skace, M4H also englightened me on the difference between the 2...

im still no expert, and whether or not he is really correct is beyond me, but it certainly is a different POV, and that is always positive in a debate :)

How did I come to the conclusion that I'm agnostic? I said to myself, "Do I believe in God? No. Do I believe that there isn't a God? No. Hmm, I must be agnostic!" :)

in all seriousness, I can't decide either way without proof. I can't just believe in something just because someone tells me to, and I can't believe in something simply because it's "safer." There are arguments for and against God. I do find it hard to believe that the universe came from nothing, but if God does exist, where did he come from? There are just so many unanswered questions that need to be met before I can believe either way.

i didnt mean to patronize you, i was just curious about what you think. thanks for actually answering instead of calling me a stupid judgemental christian like some people would have done...

anyways, your viewpoints are not easily countered as they cover most bases. since there will probably never be any real evidence, i guess this is where the difference in humans lies...we have to decide for ourselves what we believe, and no matter which path we go on (if we decide to believe in something) it will be based on faith in an idea/theory/god/whatever.

scorch, your thought process is admirable as you dont totally dismiss either concept.

I still perfer the last poll like this that didn't have an "other" option and essentially forced people to admit something if they wanted the payoff of seeing the results. It just strikes me as rather spinless of people to pick that option when a poll covers (and/or offers to cover) all variations.

i agree, but i didnt want to limit the scope of the poll to the most common forms of religion. i do not know if there are many others, but i am sure there has to be something else out there which is not listed. i wanted participation from everyone who entered, and the "other" option was the only way i saw fit.

Thank you, MrDudeMan. I used to be atheist, and quite outspoken at that, but then I realized I was being close-minded. I'd like to consider pretty open-minded now, and I like to hear all sides. I also try to respect everyone's beliefs, especially as now I realize there are reasons for them. I understand now that people can doubt evolution and consider God a feasible option for the creation of the universe. I don't technically agree with it 100%, but it is an option that makes just as much sense as the Big Bang.

I'm atheist, although i chose agnostic. I was confused on the definition. There are too many questions to religion.

Agnostics don't deny the possibility of god(s). Atheists do.

But Agnostics don't believe in or pray to God or gods, they just think that God/gods may exist?

It's more of a "Don't know, don't care" attitude.

it may not matter to you, but it definitely matters to other people. people have different interests incase you missed the memo. some people like ethan allen furniture while i think it is absolutely ridiculous when you can get stuff that looks the same for half the price, but again, they care about that and i dont. that doesnt make me right and them wrong, or vice versa, because it is just an opinion. we care about it, you dont have to, but dont be rude in the process. live and let live.

think of it this way,
Matter cannot be created nor destroyed by law of conservation of mass.
However matter exists right now, so you can conclude that it was either created at some point or that it always existed. There are two possibilities: matter was created or matter always existed

If matter always existed continuously, then God can just as well have always existed transcedentally, which is how that is defined in the Bible.
If matter was created, then it had to be created by some higher force, such as God. Why does it have to be a higher force? Well matter can't create itself and something higher would have to create something lower. Now this is where it gets difficult, since then who created God. Well, two possibilities exist: God was created or God always existed

If you keep taking the "creation" path, it becomes continuous.

How is that rude, that is my religious stance. If I said, Jesus loves everyone, is that rude because not everyone thinks that? Nice and narrow minded there buddy.

apples to oranges, Mr. Ignorant. you said "dont know, dont care because it doesnt matter"

i stated that your comment was rude because it is completely objectifying your stance on the issue. you think it doesnt matter, so where would that lead one to think about how you perceive their personal beliefs? saying Jesus loves everyone is not and can not be rude. it does not imply that you are saying someone elses beliefs are wrong or less correct than your own. it is simply a statement.

You my friend, are a fvcking moron. < See, now that is rude. This whole thread is about what religion you are. I gave my stance on religion, what's the problem? It's rude because you don't like what I have to say? When you say Jesus loves you, your right, it's not rude, it's insulting. For you to think I am stupid enough to believe in this magic Jesus, is an attack on my intelligence.

Can't answer since Catholic/Christian encompasses far to many things and I won't put my name anywhere near the Catholic answer. Change it to just Christian and I'll vote.

Text

WHAT IS ZOROASTRIANISM?

A brief overview
Zoroastrianism is a religion founded in ancient times by the prophet Zarathushtra, known to the Greeks as Zoroaster.

Zoroastrianism was the dominant world religion during the Persian empires (559 BC to 651 AC), and was thus the most powerful world religion at the time of Jesus. It had a major influence on other religions. It is still practiced world-wide, especially in Iran and India.
