Poll: Which RAM would you choose?

I am finishing up a system that I am putting together and would like to know what everyone's opinion is about which RAM I should get. I am somewhat on a budget and so I am buying RAM that runs about $100 per 512 MB. Here is the computer that it is going on:

AMD Barton 2500+
ABIT NF7-S
Seagate 120 GB HD SATA
480W Thermaltake Silent Pure Power
Thermaltake Silent Boost Fan
ATI 9800 pro

Here are the choices of RAM that I am going to buy tomorrow:

1. Kingston PC4000 RAM. underclocked to 220Mhz to get better timings... $106 ea. 512MB

2. Geil Ultra Platinum 3500. OC'ed to 220Mhz $96 ea 512MB

3. OCZ Enhanced Latency PC3200. OC'ed to 220Mhz. $105 ea 512MB

i'd say go with the kingston hyperX ... i think that's what you're referring to...

amd boards don't benefit greatly from the high fsb's as much as intel rigs do...

i think running anything around 220 should be good and you should be able to do that with some kingston hyperx pc3200 bh-5's

I cant believe you didn't even consider Buffalo Ram with Winbond CH-5 modules.

Windbod chips can easily overclock past 224Mhz with tight timings.

Well, I have never used Buffalo RAM, never known anyone who has, and havent heard much about them. I always thought they were kinda lower end RAM... maybe I was wrong?

I have a stick of Buffalo RAM and it's good stuff, especially considering the cost, but I'm really eyeballing that PC4000 HyperX...

The tight timing pc3200 for sure. THere's no point in getting high speed memory for a barton, it'll never get up that high.

I'd have to say geil as well, as I just got a 512mb stick of it a few weeks ago and I love it. Although, it's not the ultra platinum that you listed, it's the golden dragon architecture, and that stuff is hot. PC3200 Geil Golden Dragon 512mb CAS 2-3-3-6 for $90. Last time I checked again, it was around $98, but my stick works great. Overclocks to PC3500 @ CAS 2-2-3-5 no problem. Supposedly, this stuff runs cooler than normal memory. I wouldn't know, since I usually don't go sticking my hands inside my computer when it's running, but ah well 😀
I also like the red LED eye on my stick, quite spiffy 😉
if for some reason you do go with Geil, it might be a safe bet to get PC3500, like you listed, unlike me
and I definitely agree that you won't need PC4000 memory

Since it's all comparable in price, you want the RAM that will give you the best timings. I assume that leaves out the Kingston and probably means you want the OCZ. You might try Buffalo, though.

Twinmos Chips have been getting rave reviews from various sites as one of the more desireable rams.

I beleive Geil use Twinmos at the time but Buffalos were a bargain.
