Well I am thinking of going a differant route now. I am looking into getting a 27" or bigger monitor, to be used for games and DVD's, then maybe sticking with the 17" I got for web surfing and whatever else. Although i still need another monitor for a computer I got, so I am still deciding between the dual 17's or a 19 I guess, but give me your input on a good but cheap 27" monitor to get. If I go with the 27" setup should I use a Radeon VIVO/Geforce with TV out plus a TV tuner card, or should I just use a All In Wonder radeon. I am looking at the Samsung 753DF that you can get in a pricematch with staples for 137.00 after rebate, Might get a couple of them and the big monitor and then I would be set both ways.

I just went to best buy today, they had the Samsung 753DF on display finally, it didn't look bad and would prolly work for what I need, but it and most of the other monitors seemed very dull(non bright) compared to a Micron PC and a KDS I think, both based on the Trinitron tube. Is it the tube that does that, or were the other monitors just not setup right? That is something I am looking for. The monitor I have is really great, but I saw a friends gateway monitor(not sure which one) and it was a lot brighter and better looking then mine. I am looking for a brighter display. LMK

In your case, you would get the most bang for the buck by picking up another 17" and running a dual setup. You can also just grab the 19" and run a dual with the 17" although, from experience, you'd generally like to run a dual with same size monitors. Gets weird looking down and up across different sizes.

In addition, following point is not made, but lugging around a dual monitor setup can be a pain. I have to lug my 19" dual setup from home to school, and DAMN, sometimes I ask myself if it's really worth it.

If I were you, I'd grab the 19" I don't see the reason for people to buy 17" monitors anymore. All the monitors in my household are all 19" monitors...

I dont think there is any need for 19" .. 17" is plenty big and having two set up would just rock

See the 17" is winning the poll. :Q
19" is cool too. I once had a 20" monitor that was called the "cancer machine" that I later sold.. it hummed when you turned it on. Fixed frequency montior.. the V card kinda sucked

It depends on what you do. Do you require that much desktop space to have 2 17" monitor? and do you have the physical space to have 2 17" monitor on your desk? IMHO a single 19" will probably suffice for most usage.

Well i do normal computer stuff, I think I have the space, and if I don't I can get a new big desk cheap. I am leaning towards 1x19" due to the fact that I don't want to also by a twinview video card. Although i can prolly easily get one in trade, so that option is still open. I can just imagine how cool dual 17's would be, but a 19" may be better, thats why I need some more input.

Dual monitors definitely have a coolness factor but after a few weeks the need it just not there. I had a nice LG995e 19? and a NEC XV+ 17?. I now have a Samsung 1200NF and I would never go back.

One issue that you don?t think of much is how dual monitors work with games. In some games when the mouse went to the second monitor it would cause the game to lock up?it was very frustrating.

Well how much use are you going to get out of duals? Only reason I have it is for Photoshop/CAD and the like. In addition, I can work and browse the net/watch tv at the same time. It gets annoying though when dialog boxes pop up in the middle. You get used to it eventually. And if you play a lot of games, the use is not there, I wish I could play Diablo and watch tv at the same time, but when you start up most games, the second monitor goes dark.

I would appreiciate votes in the poll to. It seems like a lot of people are saying the 17's are cool, but it is losing in the poll. I have decided to do away with the 900ift.
