POLL: Which lcd should I get?

Samsung FTW (get DVI !)
Those are nice specs though - anyway to find out who really makes though panels?

They are both dvi. And samsung is the best but I don't really have the extra $50.

if the difference is only $50, I would spend it / save it. Monitors out last computer upgrades and are worth the extra money IMHO

Actually its more like $100 with shipping. I just can't do that. Maybe I should just get a 17" samsung.

The Acer 12ms AL1914smd is about $295 at newegg. I picked one up back when it was in Hot Deals. Very happy with it for the price.

Poor Nik. No one even pays any attention to his hot air anymore and it seems everyone purposely antagonizes and mocks him nowadays😛

Good. He is annoying anyway. Let the mods do their job.

That Viewsonic probably isn't 8bit. It looks like a TN panel to me.

They like to fudge their numbers... I once emailed them about a monitor that claimed 16.7M colors and they told me it was really 6bit.

I bought a 2405 for $750 today 🙁
Not a good time financially, and truly - it is probably TOO large considering my face is usually 24" from my monitor. But I have been drooling since it came out.

It's easier to think of it this way - the 17" CRT that has lasted me 9 years was $500 back in the day, so accounting for inflation and the difference in target audience, it ain't a bad deal.

Plus I can throw away my TV.

edit: go with the dell if it's not a samsung with DVI
