Poll: Which is greater? The Anandtech Effect or Howard Stern Effect?

Nerds > society's great unwashed.

Howard Stern fans are some of the dumbest people I've ever met.

Howard himself is an intelligent guy, but he plays to the lowest that society has to offer.

But there are many more dumb HS fans than nerds on AT.

therefore, HS Effect > AT effect

You fail to see the fact that the Howard fans are are far out-numbered in terms of "moderate to heavy" internet users.

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit......eeehem.

Yeah, you don't know what you're talking about.

These 2 aren't even close.

Howard Stern has 18 millions listeners, and, assuming 50% of US households have internet access, on a worst day Howard Stern effect creates at least 2 million hits to a website, which is certainly more than a measly AT crowd of 98000

you forget that the AT effect has a uber far reach because once we find out we tell people and they tell and post other places and soon enough you have AT+ /. + SA + OT +... hammering some poor site

I listen to his show about once a week, and based on the people who call in I'd say he's pretty close. Obviously not ALL of Stern's listeners fit his generalization.

See, you have to understand all of the calls that come through are screened. Don't you think Howard wants people on the phone that will be best for his audience and ratings? Therefore, a lot of dumb people get through. I just hate when people give generalizations like that. I've been a fan for 10 years, college grad, great job, etc.

You think out of an average of 16 million listeners a day, they're all dumb? I don't think so. It's all about what you find funny.

I dunno about that.. Howard goes to alot of web sites.. and his fans usually hit them...
so alot of HS fans can use the internet...

besides that.. Howard rules... he always has nekked chicks and dirty jokes and rock and roll... whats the problem here?

It's RADIO!! What's the point of naked chicks?

I said Howard caters to the lowest in society .. I didn't say that all listeners were that ... just most of them.

Disagreed. your numbers are waaaayyyy high. The support of his website still is not that good to begin with, and you'd be lucky if Fark put 2 million unique hits on a website in a day.

The average person listens to Howard when they are in their car, when internet access is not redily available. Which means that by the time someone gets to a place where they can access the net, the thought has either left their mind or become un-important.

Not saying that AT effect is so much better, but I don't think there is that big of a gap.
