**POLL** Which is better DirecTV or Dish?

I'm looking to either get a DirecTV or Dish satellite, but I've never used either of the two. I'm not looking for anything in particular in way of features, just the overall better deal. The factors I'm considering:

- Cheaper is better (but does that compromise quality?)
- DirecTV has a free deal going on for a 2 room receiver, receivers are free as is installation with 1 year contract agreement.
- Neither satellite offers G4 :(

If you could, just vote in the poll or post back with your thoughts on what you have or have used in the past, how many service outages, price hikes during use, that sorta stuff. I hope to make an informed decision from your guys' responses.

Thanks a lot!

Yeah...if HD programming is key, definitely go for DISH (but, they don't have HDNet as of now).

Aww heck...get 'em both! :D

I weighed the options between dish and dtv and went with dish. I am happy with the cost. The PVR you can get is very simple, but VERY usefull with no subscription fees. Paying my bill online has been very easy. Overall, I am fairly pleased with the service. As good or better than standard cable (throw in the PVR and it blows it away).

I got DishNetwork about 10 months ago with 4 receivers and a PVR...at that time it was the best deal going for 2+ tv's. So far we've been really happy with the service. The only drawback for me is not having NFL Sunday Ticket.

NFL Sunday Ticket is a waste of money... They have raised the price on that damn thing again... Im never going to get it ever again until it drops back around 150 for the whole year.

I like the dish top 50 package, its just as good as the Dish100 or DirecTV 100 package but only $25 compared to $35 for some extra useless channels.

I couldn't disagree more. NFL Sunday Ticket is one of the best reasons to have Directv. It is worth every penny.

There are both owned by the same company now; DirectTV was bought out by Dish. They were making noises about removing the DirecTV programming but it appears that people like the choices between the two, even though it is one compnay.

The merger was never approved by the govt.... Rupert ended up buying DirecTV..
