Me and a friend of mine argued about this for a while.

I said Katrina cause it destroyed a whole city and it will take 20yrs to re-built that city.
He said 9/11 cause it impacted the whole world.

I agreed somewhat depending on you view it.

Damage wise: Katrina
Impact wise: 9/11

So if you can think along those lines, which would be worst overall ??

The day you graduated highschool with the grammar that wrote the title "POLL: Which is a worst disaster ??"

You are talking about something that happened in the past with future tenses. Then you use the "word" cause when you should be saying because or 'cause

The September 11th attacks cost more economically (damage == lost business, your whole argument is wrong) than Hurricane Katrina. I believe Hurricane Katrina killed more people, and thus had a higher human cost.

According to Wikipedia, Katrina had a total economic impact of around $105 Billion on the Gulf Coast. The September 11th attacks had a total economic impact of around $105 Billion in NYC ALONE.

You could almost place 9/11 as a positive event in that it woke up the world to a lot of problems that have been formenting semi-quietly for some time.

I guess Katrina is the same way, though in that case the lesson learned might simply be, "If Mother Nature wants to fsck you up, she can and will."

Such as us meddling with other countries that eventually led to hatred for us and the attack?

9/11 was worse in the grand scheme of things, because it has changed the culture and minset in politics to a very scary degree that goes far beyond a particularly gruesome tragedy like katrina. Any time you can blame "mother nature" for something, the psychological impact and political atmosphere won't be as twisted and shocked. We can blame people for not planning properly, but ultimately in the end we can't go to war with mother nature and invade homes and bomb things. The reaction can only be so harsh.

QFT

He needs to take some time to rebuilt his grammar. Maybe not. It depends on you view it.

They hated you before the attack too. So you might as well do some meddling. :p

Can't really say. Two completely different incidents. However, 9/11 hits close to home for everyone, not just Americans. Hurricane Katrina, on the other hand, is more of a "I'm sorry to hear about that" kind of thing.

Two very different things.

9/11 has directly influenced the mobilzation of several hundred thousands of troops, the creation of entire new branches of government, a total overhaul of the airline industry, and a miriade of other trickle down policies and actions. It affects every one of us in the country every single day. There isn't hardly a person in this country over the age 20 that can't tell you what they were doing when they first heard of it.

Katrina on the other hand really won't even register as a blip on the emotional/historical radar for most of us outside of the gulf coast.

Hell, you do a poll 12 hours outside of that area and they probably couldn't even tell you what month Katrina hit...and that was just last year.

People in 9/11 had no warning or hope of getting out of the way of the attacks, the attacks happened without any prior knowledge.

Katrina was coming, people were told to leave, people were offered assistance to get out if they couldn't afford to do so on their own, yet many turned down the offer believing they weren't in nearly as much danger as it was being made out to be and as a result paid the price for not being prepared.

To me and in my opinion the two aren't even comparable.

9/11 was worse by far.
