So which is it? My friend seems to think that I downgraded by replacing my XP2500 barton with an XP2700 Thoroughbred. I think its a definate upgrade. Make your decision in the poll. Also please post sites that compare the two in tests to prove your point.

I'd say they're both pretty close, but the 2700+ has a slight advantage even with half the L2 cache of the barton. Remember, the 2700+ is clocked at 2.17GHz, while the 2500+ barton is clocked at 1.83GHz. But the 2500+ Barton probably OC's better than the 2700+

I had a TB 2700 and went with a Barton 2500... the 2700 just wouldn't overclock that well without having to jack up the voltage. I could overclock the 2500 with a lower default voltage than the 2700 so i'm happy. :)

there were test on those two and results were give or take between applications.

Like I said, Im comparing stock vs stock. Overclocking isnt an issue.

A 2600+ (T-bred) beat out a 2500+ (Barton) Here.
At "stock" speeds, I don't see how people can defend a 2500+ Barton against a 2700+ T-bred.
It baffles me because the CPU manufacturer rated BOTH processors. :p

Thoroughbreds have always performed slightly better than Bartons of the same Model.
