with the recent postings about bulldozer delays, news on quad core via cpu's, llano coming out at some undisclosed point, and intel chugging along, which do you think will come out first (be available for purchase by us forum posters) ?

Still hoping the July release is true.

Planning a build in august and my chips of choice are ....

6 core AMD Bulldozer

core i7 970 depending on price of course

2600k or 2700? if such a chip is to be released surprised Intel hasn't brought out a faster clocked Sandy yet maybe with a 4ghzs turbo :d

Any of those replacing a core i7 950 :)

i cancelled the order for phenomII 1100T cause i thought buldozer was in the corner
but i had no idea that the corner was a mile away
sadly amd and intel do the same good job
making intel a good company
amd trembles left intel with no answer for the atom procesor only to reveal e-350 too late why go there when i can have zotac mainboard with an su2300?? which is faster and less power demanding!??!?!? okey maybe e-350 has better gpu than the su2300 (ion) but hardly both of them suck. both are good for the job. paly blua ray.
so now another delay for buldozer?!?!?!?
i voted intel
intel is more likely to show something new
sadly :-(

lol at the vote for the next Intel cpu refresh really ?

Isn't that slated for a late 2011 or early 2012 release? wow

I find your lack of faith in AMD disturbing:p

The high core clock of the x4 980 is insignificant next to the design of the core i7 :d

Sorry , had to bring out the parody star war lines lol

I'd say:

Llano, Bulldozer, SB-E, and I have no hope for the Via quad-core...

How long ago did we hear about the dual-core? And it still isn't available!

Intel will milk Sandy Bridge until AMD puts out something decent like Bulldozer.

There should be one more choice in the poll: "I don't care." I just bought my new 2600K today so I'll look again inn 4 years or so when I am ready to buy again.

In 4 years im sure 8 core will be mainstream.

We might possibly see our first 4ghzs stock clocked cpu.

Platforms may support 5 way sli

efficiency will be so great a core i7 900 series will be like a pentium d

Except....my Q6600 from three years ago is actually still plenty fast. I just got the itch to upgrade but it was a want not a need. More interesting, at work we still have a couple of Pentium D's (3.4 ghz dual core P4's ...i.e. firebreathing monsters power wise) that still do just fine running Windows 7 and doing basic office tasks. The pace at which processing power is increasing is far outstripping what the average person is doing with a desktop PC.

I believe you with the q6600 i had mine at 3ghzs.

Didn't upgrade till the i7 came out,i passed on the 45nm 775 all together

Still more then plenty of power for gaming and any other tasks , maybe a bit slower by todays standerds but still has some life in it.

Could end up seeing them in service probaly even in the next 10 years as email machine processors :)
