I've been a Plextor user for a couple of years now so I say Plextor. I have not tried their IDE stuff though, only the scsi:)

What the HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU???!!!

Keep the TDK, it's friggin 16x BURRRRN man. AND it uses BURN-Proof.

And it's MOST LIKELY the same damned drive as the Plextor 16x burner (since the TDK 12x and Plextor 12x burners are the same drive)

AND it came with Nero 5 software (The Plex came with that CHEESE Adaptec EZ)
AND it KICKS ASS at DAE
AND MaximumPC loves the TDK 12x, so it's likely they'll like the 16x when they review it.

No brainer here man

TDK pretty much = plextor rebadged drive.

I think the TDK is better because of the blue translucent drive tray.
And like 40X ripping cababilities.
And its 16x
;)

In terms of quality, They're both the same. I would pick the TDK just because of the speed..

I would buy the TDK because:
1) Everyone here is a Plextor zealot.
2) The TDK is likely to be a rebadged or very similar Plextor.
3) The TDK is faster than the Plextor.
4) The TDK looks cooler than the bland Plextor.
5) Because you read this TDK 16x/10x/40x review which made up your mind.

The only other alternatives I would consider are:
Plextor then Yamaha

Hey!
This ins't OT! This is very much Hardware!

hehe

I'd take the TDK, looks cooler, has better software and it would tweak the noses of 1million and 1 plextor zealots on the AT Forums ;)
