I started a new thread because i messed up the poll on the last one. Sorry about all the car theards to!
Anyways here are the cars (in no paticular order)

'02 Nissan Sentra XE (2.8%, $12 600) 126 HP @ 6000 rpm/129 lb-ft @ 2400 rpm
'02 Mazda Protege DX (1.9%, $13 600) 103 HP @ 5500 rpm/106 lb-ft @ 4000 rpm

'02 Honda Civic DX (6.8%, $13 100) 115 HP @ 6100 rpm/110 lb-ft @ 4500 rpm

Please give reasons why you would choose a certin car over another.

Isn't the corolla going to be remodeled soon? The Civic is WEAK!! Only 93hp according to edmunds.com

1.7L 115 hp I4
1.7L 117 hp I4
1.7L 127 hp I4

According to carpoint.msn.com. Interesting...

The Civic. I prefer Honda's driving dynamics to the others. Nissan is out right from the beginning because I really dislike their cheap-feeling interiors; the switches all feel to me as though they are moving through butter. Toyotas never seem to be dailed in correctly to me. As fo Mazda, well, I'm kind of ambivalent on Mazda.

you should put links to pictures and maybe even some stats on all the cars..

i like the look of the mazda protege5..

As you notice, most are offering their opinions on looks. The most important category you have listed is reliability. That narrows your choice down to two on the list.

Honda Civic
Toyota Corolla

I'd get the Protege5, although I don't really like any of them... even the Protege5 is beginning to bug me.... SO MANY PEOPLE have them, and it begins to look awful to me.. but it's better than the rest.. I'd get a Sentra SE or up out of that lineup, but not a regular XE.

So out of the cars given, Protege5

mikelh is an idiot. toyota and honda have great reliability but so do mazda and nissan. get the protege LX? the one with the bigger engine. it'll be more fun to drive, and more refined. motor trend, autoweek and the like all rave about the handling of the protege.

It's a tight poll! This isn't going to help my mom in her decision much. Oh well, it was worth a try. Thanks guys.

I would get the Toyota Corolla, there's a reason it's the best selling car ever (I could be wrong but I think since it's inception it is the best selling car ever).

Her choice will probably be the Toyota or protege 5 since they have both been redesigned recently.

Anyways, how good is Mazda?s reliability? My moms always had Hondas in her life so she's used to reliable cars. Will she notice a difference in reliability as compared to civics (I know it's hard to tell)? Will repair/maintenance cost be pretty much the same?

Thanks.
