why move to a city at all? there's lots of nice little towns in ontario

I don't really want to live in a town. I definitely want to live in a city, or just a few minutes outside (~15 minutes)

I have lived in both and prefer Montreal. It is a more interesting city, with more culture and more opportunities. Ottawa is very much a government town, and didn't seem to have the same variety.

(Anything will be a step up from the Peg)

What? why not Toronto. or Mississauga. I lived in Mississauga for the past 10 years of my life (im 18 now) till before i moved to university 3 months ago... i loved the city. its a nice clean place, everyones pretty nice, there arent any areas where you've gotta watch your back and you can walk alone at 3-4 am and not worry about a thing

i would have said the same about scarborough before this year

Sprechen ze francais?

Un peu, oui, et j'habite i Vancouver...

The french you learned in hs so far (as I'm sure you have) plus reading the french labels has already given you a good start. I've been to Montreal and there are a few shops where the proprieters speak french to you even when they know english and you respond in english for whatever reason, but if you at least try, they're pretty good about it.

It's funny too, cause when you go into a restaurant your waiter will come up to you and say "Bonjour hello." Whichever you respond with will dictate what language they use for your visit. It's funny to go in there as a couple and when the waiter greets you to say hello while your friend says bonjour. The waiter will just sorta stare at you 🙂

But yeah, Ottawa isn't too much different as it's right on the Quebec border. So the drinking age isn't really any different cause you can just hop the river into Hull.

My vote would be Montreal, but my real vote would be Vancouver 😀

I went to visit once.

Toronto is much more friendly to American/English speaking/reading people.

Hope you have a safe trip.

Oh;why not Visit first,before Moving??

Saturday I went to a travel expo in SF, and there was this chick from Vancouver presenting Canada.
Teh hotness!!!
Vancouver wins!

You got that right, Paulney. I use to drive up to Vancouver when I was living in Seattle. Go to downtown (Robson St area). There were so many hot women and they're nicer than American women too.
