[poll] - when you want to take a day off from work...

Do you ASK or do you simply TELL your mgr/boss you will be doing so ?

I'd like to know what the proper thing to do is... on one hand I'm thinking "tell" because it's already our days to take...

i just inform him and my group that i will be out for the day.

its ok in my environment but i wouldnt do it in every environment.

i always ask to be polite and so they don't think i'm trying to take advantage of them. it looks better on you too. most times you'll get the day off unless too many people have already asked for it off in advance.

my boss kicks arse. i just tell him...plus we can access the network seven ways to sunday to do work.

matter of fact i am working at home now, doing my laundry too 😀

What's his email ? Let me send him a message... we'll see how kewl he really is. 😉

Depends on your boss/manager, I'd just tell mine I'm not going to be in on whatever date, if there was a conflict with that date I'm sure they'd tell me.

I tell. I don't ask my employer if I can have a week off in the future like a little kid asks their parents. I tell, and if I have vacation time that's fine. Actually i say "I was planning on taking off such and such. Any problems with this?"

It depends on how far out we're talking, and even then I basically ask because I have to make sure that someone will be here to cover in our area. Plus it's just common decency to make sure you aren't screwing over your coworkers.

That's not telling, that's asking. Sissy.
