The difference between lurking and actively participating is the presence of a thread I actually want to respond to.

I think a "lurker" generally wouldn't have an account and therefore he lurks... if you do have an account then you're just browsing the forums, and as JulesMaximus said I think you would post if there was a thread that interested you - not posting doesn't make you a lurker

Before I signed up for AT I lurked all the damn time. Since I signed up in October, I have read many articles but either had nothing of value to add to what had already been said, or just wasn't interested... but I'm not sure that makes me a "lurker". Just my opinion :p

But for the record, since I created my account, I use the auto-login feature and am always logged in when "lurking" :D

I only log on when I want to reply to something. I find that when I drink I respond to everything and make people mad. If I have to login to reply I wont reply.

Same here. With every forum I use to just have cookies set to log me in automatically.

yeah I'm looking to build a new system in the next couple months and I'll be asking for some of your professional opinions at that time.

The reason I haven't posted up till now is the Christmas season has doubled my work hours and I have been too damn busy... but it's almost all over now :D

If you got post count from lurking I would be Uber Lifer :) LOL

I'm usually logged in while lurking.... but if you're logged in, are you really lurking?
