POLL: When will Anandtech cease to exist?

I doubt that Anandtech will ever "cease to exist". I wouldn't be suprised if the site got bought out by some mega-corporation, however, who screws the site up so badly that everyone flees elsewhere 🙁

I wonder if I'll still be surfing ATOT 10 years from now...

Um, that's a scary thought. :Q

I'll have like 200,000 posts.. LOL

I rarely go to sharky anymore...I probably have at least twice my AT postcount there (used to spend a LOT of time on Sharky)..but there's no OT -- and I got sick of talking about computers all the time, I guess. 😛

As I see it, there are really only 4 options.

1. Anand graduates college(and then again and again until he decides he's done), and then goes back to reviewing full time. Site lasts forever
2. Anand graduates, gets an engineering job somewhere, but keeps the site running with the help of people like Michael, Brandon, etc.
3. Anand graduates, and decides he's done with that phase of his life, and closes the site.
4. Anand graduates, decides he's done, and sells the site.

Personally, I'm betting on #2, but you never know.

I agree. Either #2 or #4. I don't think he would ever just close the site.. There wouldn't be any point, unless it died for some reason. Surely someone would be interested in buying it.

1.8 years from now, the Anandtech Domain, to include the main page and the forums is sold to Time Warner Inc.

The forums are dismantled and the review site reviews mostly new Dells and Macintoshes. Videocard reviews are considered "childish."

The reviews contain NO benchmarks or comparisons; just a subjective rating by the reviewer. No mention of operating system/service packs or other "useless information" is posted.

Oh, the reviews are all done by folks in the 50-75 age group who usually review kitchen appliances.

The future is grim, indeed.

From personal experience, I can tell you that Anand will do #1 way before he even thinks about doing #'s 2, 3 or 4. Same goes for me.

In other words, we'll die before AnandTech "ceases to exist" (however you define that phrase).

On another note Matthew Witheiler, one of our Senior Hardware Editors, took a job with ATI recently (as their AIW Product Manager I believe). We miss him greatly, but we're coping. 🙂

would be really sweet if all of the AT staff gets "real" jobs like Matthew, and still have time to run this site. Imagine all the inside scoop info we could get if every staff member had such a job, at different companies :Q
