I'm planning to get a new monitor to upgrade from my current 17" CRT (ew...lol).
So, taking that into consideration....If I'm going to wait before I upgrade what monitor do I get:
1) 17" (1280x1024)
2) 19" (1280x1024)
3) 20" (1680x1050)
4) 22" (1680x1050)
5) 24" (1920x1200)
Hmm...Maybe I should make a post on this issue in video.

The higher your resolution is, the more benefit the increased memory bandwidth on your CURRENT card gives... it will be outperformed in every resolution, but it will be outperformed LESS in the higher resolutions...
At any rate your current card is only a little slower then those two cards you mentioned... it is simply not worth it.. in fact many people like me are still using a geforce 7... I hope the GF9 comming soon are fast enough and cheap enough to justify a purchase. I Would like to finally move from the 7 series.

Get the 22", 1680x1050 - the price/size ratio is about right. You can get it for about $200 - $250.
You'll be amazed, coming from the 17" CRT, and your 8800GTS will most likely be sufficient, too.
And get the monitor first - whatever size you'll decide to get.
It will give you an opportunity to test your 320MB GTS. If the performance is disappointing, it will be much easier to decide to get a new Video Card.
And it will offer you a much better excuse to spend the money on the Graphics Card... LOL.

BTW, if I may suggest something, wait for your 2x2GB setup until you get your Monitor/Video Card situation resolved.
Do you intend to run the 64-bit Vista any time soon...?
2GB of RAM is plenty with any 32-bit Windows.
I got 3GB for Quake 4 and STALKER (2GB would show 99% memory use), and because I was... curious LOL.

Go with a 24 inch monitor... they are under 300$ now and dont reduce the hight (due to widescreen) compared to older monitors...
And yea, if you CAN sell your GTS for 200+$ and get a 3870 or 8800GT 256MB then it would be a good deal... if you can being the key here...
Maybe list it on ebay with a min bid of 200?

It's your decision, but unless you are running out of memory, 2GB is plenty.
Funny thing is that you can't even install the 64-bit Vista with 4GB of RAM - you gotta do it with 2GB, install the patch, and only then put the remaining 2GB in.
I'll give 64-bit Vista at least another year before I even think about it.
But... if you are "curious", go for it!

I'm a gamer but I watch a lot of movies as well. So, I want a good balance.
I've read that at that size, a TNs viewing angles are really noticeable, which I don't want.
So, I want a fast *VA panel. Great viewing angles and colours, and also fast enough not to ghost during FIFA...😛

Well obviously this question has now been answered but...

Does anybody know for sure how well the 9800GX2 will scale?
I mean the 7950GX2 was I'd say mediocre at best.
The 3870 X2 has shown so far to scale VERY well @ 80 - 90%
Any idea about the 9800GX2???
