Bastard never left me feedback either.

lol!

Speaking of bastards...a high profile trader here @ AT (who shall remain nameless until I shame him in public  ) wont leave me feedback after I left him some. I have nagged and nagged to no avail. Needless to say we wont be doing business again.

Won my first auction this Monday using the Buy It Now thing. Bought a floppy memory stick adapter for a friend's Sony Mavica digicam. It was the only place that had it for a reasonable price, everywhere else wanted 4x as much. I doubt I'll buy much of anything else from ebay unless I absolutely have to.

I was gonna use 'buy it now' for $11.99 but won it for $9.99 + $3.00 shipping. I think if you used 'buy it now' you dont really win but you do get a good price, which is good.

When buying on Ebay, one should avoid using the term "win." It can make you think you have "lost" if you get outbid, which is what leads people to get into bidding wars and pay way more than an item is selling for elsewhere.

Name your price. Make that price your bid. If you don't get outbid, you got a good deal. If you do get outbid, the "winner" got a bad deal (in your opinon).

That may be true Jz, but I say if you beat the buy it now price your a 'winner'. You do have a good point however.

Absolutely true. When it comes to Buy It Now, you have to evaluate carefully whether you think the auction will close with a price lower than the Buy It Now. Oftentimes, you pay more if you "Buy It Now," but on the other hand, you cannot be outbid. I often feel like I'd rather pay the higher (but still good) price for the guarantee of not having to wait a week only to be outbid at the last second.

Well, $29.33 shipped is a lot better than the $60-$90 it was going for on websites I'd never heard of. Good enough for me. :)

1998. I have no idea what my first purchase was... I think it was a blow gun.

1996 ... though at the time it was an account my aunt had set up for me ... as i didn't have internet access at home at the time (I was running an old 486). I built my crappy Cyrix box then (my first homebuilt rig) , and about 1/2 of the parts came from a computer show, and 1/2 came from ebay auctions.

ETDIT: You should make your poll go back to 95, since i know for a fact ebay was around at least in 95.
