I say they should start now and have at least one per month, more as the election nears.

They should definitely start immediately, since the campaigning and negative ads are at such a fevered pitch. Just let them face eahcother off and handle it like real men instead of indirect attacks. Also, I believe they should debate bi-weekly, since that seems to be the attention span of corporate media.

I voted "After the Dem Convention" simply because Kerry is still only the presumptive nominee.

I voted "bi-weekly" because weekly is perhaps too often, but I like the idea of increasing the frequency to one a week in the 4-6 weeks before the election.

I would also like the format to encompass a true debate, with each candidate allowed to address and challenge the other, with sufficent rebuttal time allowed, in an open-ended format, spanning at least two hours, and for some, three.

For this most important of positions in the world, we for whom this man will work deserve no less.

Weekly and please fair representation of the all the primary parties
I'd really like to see Nader take the piss out of both of them..
They deserve it and I really think people should see this.
Even if they just have him debating once a month or something.
Check & Balance
If not they will agrue about crap that does not matter and make the same old promises and bash each other.
I want to see hard issues and people being held accountable.

Nader couldn't possible own Kerry in a debate, because Kerry was a debate champion at prep school. Other than that, my right nut could beat Pres. Bush in a debate.

It would be nice if they gave him a shot at least I would really like to see their reactions to being asked about real issues.

Real issues? Give some examples? Legalization of pot? Tree-hugging?

No, "biweekly" means every two weeks. "Semi-weekly" means twice per week.

In any case, my vote is after the Democratic convention with a debate every two weeks. I will be surprised, however, if Bush agrees to more than two debates, three tops. I also expect he will demand tightly scripted debates.

Bi-weekly defined

The majority of applications of the word biweekly in business is every 2 weeks, like biweekly mortgage payments, and getting paid biweekly (I get paid biweekly- twice a month)

But there are some definitions that indicate twice a week which I cannot think of at this moment- but they really should be using semi-weekly, as that definition above indicates.

So basically...it could mean either? Well, thats even more annoying than being wrong. Now I'll never have any idea which is correct.

I voted weekly and after primaries.

Face it steeplerot, no one is going to seriously vote for Nader and think he is a contender. Hes, quite frankly, a joke, and all he does is ruin the one chance we have to expel Bush from office. If you vote for Nader, its a vote for Bush.

Good to see you have faith in Democracy.
A vote for Nader is a vote for who earned it I could care less what the majority is voting for as the sheep are the ones that have got us into this.

I get paid biweekly too. I would gladly accept Genesys' definition of biweekly if the check amount remained the same. ;)

Its depressing I know steeplerot...but I agree with AcidicFury. I'm saving my idealism for the next election. My vote goes to damage control this november.

Well, seeing as how kerry has decided to accept the nomination at the nominating convention - I think starting them after his nomination is a lock and accepted would be appropriate. A debate every two weeks or atleast once a month would suffice.

Perhaps they're going to switch to Edwards for the nomination at the last minute in an effort to trick the bush team into wasting all that money on anti Kerry advertising. pwned!

LOL! Wow, wouldn't that frost the Bushies. Bush's $200 million war chest squandered because most of it was spent attacking Kerry.

Who gives a crap....debates are stupid. Republicans think their guy won and Democrats think their guy won and people vote for who they were going to vote for before the debate.
