That's not business casual.

it actually is, just the far end of it

jeans are rarely acceptable in workplaces as part of business casual attire, but some Silicon Valley entrepreneurs such as Steve Jobs are known to wear jeans as part of the business casual look.[citation needed] In academic and research settings, however, jeans may be worn with a dress shirt. The second from the top button may also be opened in addition to the very top button.......

Software, Internet and some high tech companies accept blue jeans and a collared shirt as business casual.

Haha right. You go ahead and go to an interview that calls for business casual in jeans and tennis shoes. Jeans are not business casual, that's why you wear jeans on casual friday. Just casual. Not business casual.

From Monday to Thursday = Business attire - long sleeve shirt, tie, pants, black or brown shoes with matching belt. You can wear suit if you want but not required.

Friday = Casual - jeans <no holes or too worn out>, collar shirt, casual shoes, nice sneakers are acceptable.

Its business casual but they don't really enforce it...my end of the building has a lot of manufacturing, so its a lot more casual.

I agree 100%, actually we are business casual and in our employee handbook it says jeans are part of the attire but if you would wear them you would get a load of hell for it, I am not sure why they ever put it there.

there's a sign in the "new hires tank" here that shows what is and is not acceptable...jeans and sneakers are clearly listed as unaccaptable but people still wear them and no one stops them. Some places are just more forgiving in what they deem "business casual"

biz casual all week which kinda stinks, as I am crawling under desks and in wiring closets and have ripped a couple pair of pant catching them on things. And some of the debris under peoples desks is disgusting. New life forms are creating themselves...

Home based businesses, all work done at our desks upstairs in our office. Somedays I never get dressed. :)

You are not actually business casual then.

Yeah more and more companies don't care anymore. Their policy says business casual but they don't enforce it.

Technically I'd say we were casual, but most people tend to dress business casual. I generally get by with khakis and a sweater through the winter, so nothing too rigid.

It's funny, the other day I had to go home at lunch to accept a package. Turns out, a 70 pound subwoofer in box is a really pain in the ass thing to carry on your own (not the weight so much as the sheer size of the box). So I take off my sweater to move the box, open it, inspect the contents, etc. I get back to work and realize that I left my sweater behind; now I'm only wearing a T-shirt. Normally that's frowned upon, but no one said anything. So yeah, fairly casual environment.

On mondays when I am in the office it is dress shirt and tie with dress slacks. On fridays it is pretty much casual attire (no jeans though). When I am on the road it is whatever I want, but since it is sales I tend to dress snappy.
