I was out buying stuff tonight, and saw the blood pressure machine and decided to give it a go.

I was really surprised to see my heart rate at 45bpm - I suppose all that excercise is paying off (I measured twice, just to be sure, and both times it was 45).

Not all good news. My blood pressure seems to be on the high side (130/80). Need more excercise, can't wait til spring :)

How long of intervals are you counting for? You are either a biological freak, or you are training for some major indurance events (half marathons, marathons, long distance biking, ect). Or some combination there of.

Getting HR's in the mid 40's is a *very* difficult task.

The lowest I ever got mine down to was 48, and this was when I was running 20k races and running over 100 miles a week.

I don't know my true resting HR, as I'm never fully conscious enough to check it in the morning, but after sitting still for a minute or so I can get mine down to mid 50s. I'm running 50-60 miles per week right now.

I used the machine at the local drug store. Counting 10s, I get about 8 beats, and 30s I get 22-23 beats.

I haven't done so for about 2 weeks, but normally I do 1hr on a elliptical trainer, with the highest setting and 5-6 days a week.

Not surprising as I actively lift...

they work the oppose way, the less your resting pulse rate is, the better shape you are.

My HR is usually about 60, but my BP is often as low as 90/40. I think it is common for women to have a higher resting HR than men but not really sure if it is because of lower average body mass or some other factor(s).

68. However, I am outta shape. Lowest Ive gotten was 55 in HS. I am working out, so by semester end, it should be 5-10 lower than what it is easily.

Your BP is REALLY low. Have you seen a doctor about that?

(Being around them / attached to them tends to make pulse rise, that's my theory anyway, I'm willing to do a study if needed).

/Oh, I am at 55bpm because that's what I measured at the BP machine Tue. Haven't done the morning wake-up one lately, usually it's about 5-10 lower, IIRc.

I have no idea what my actual resting rate is since I never remember to check it when I first wake up. Right now, I'm in the high 50's sitting at my desk.

BTW- you're all flabby wimps until you can do this. :p
