<< Born Catholic.
Currently against any type of organized religion (esp. most Christian religions...way too arrogant).
I just believe that living a moral life, respecting other people and respecting the planet is all one needs to do. This malarky about believing in one particular religion or spend eternity in hell is just nonsense. And, once one starts applying science to many of the beliefs of the ancients, well, there's not much left.
To societies who had no idea as to why clouds formed and rain fell or earthquakes rumbled or volcanoes erupted, it's easy to see that fear would leave to some hidden being controlling things. I just don't buy it anymore. >>
Well said conjur. I too was raised as a Catholic and began to get tired of constant diatribes relating to which religion is better. A moral life is all what a person needs to get to heaven. If you don't believe in heaven, what harm is done by living a moral life anyway? I have no problems with an atheist who respects everyone, everything, and himself. I DO have a problem with Catholics, Muslims, Christians whatever religion who live a life of sin and hypocrisy. I still believe in God however. Nothing to lose by doing so.
