Just wondering ... i love getting cozy in a fetal position .. sometimes i sleep on my belly...
Also, i heard that crossing your feet at your ankles is really bad for blood circulation :)

I like sleeping on my side, my head on one pillow, and the other is usually in my arms.

Though I flail around wildly when I actually fall asleep.

Always fetal position on my right side. Although before I can fall asleep, I have to lay on my left side in the fetal position and on my back for 5 minutes each. So, effectively 15 minutes or when I'm laying I'll just have this feeling that I HAVE to lay in the position that hasn't had enough time yet.

In the end though, its fetal position on my right side.

Interesting, i read that this is a question that is asked on some job interviews.. it tells them about your personality.. anyone know exactly what it tells about a person sleeping in a fetal position.. ?

I sleep in a convoluted position.

Kind of on my side with one arm under the pillow at a 90 degree angle...I rest my head on that arm and the pillow, the other arm draped off the bed, or if its cold, it is tucked up nicely under my chin. While my upper body is on its side, I twist my lower body so that the front of my pelvis almost lies flat on the mattress with one leg sticking straight towards the end of the bed, and the other at a 90 degree or more angle up towards my chest.

For some unknown reason, my postion just drives my wife nuts, and she claims no normal human can sleep in that position comfortably, I just say "Yes Dear, and drift off to sleep...and of course snore just to piss her off.

Fetal position I guess although I don't pull my legs up. Either side works. I usually throw my arm over a pillow too when alone.

On my side with one arm under pillow/head. Other arm wrapped around cover and to my front. The legs are wrapped around the cover while one leg is stretched and the other is at a sharper angle tucked under the first leg. This works both for left and right side.
On my back using up all availible space in bed works too.

I fall asleep sideways but usually wake up in another position like on my back or on my stomach

Back. Always. I can never sleep on my side or stomach for more then 10 minutes without pain or discomfort.

Sometimes I sleep completely straight and people have told me I look dead when I sleep. I like to reach out with my arms and put them behind my head sometimes or just keep them above my head on the bed for some reason.

Heh notfred I sleep exactly like you. I can get plenty comfortable in other positions, such as on my side or back, but I can't actually fall asleep unless I'm on my stomach.

Edit: typo

on my right side. i take care to arrange my arms and legs so as not to cut off circulation or leave my joints in weird positions, especially since my wrists and fingers hurt sometimes (too many finger-based activites. and it isn't what you think! you have a dirty mind, you sicko!).

As of 2.48 am EST, it's close to a 3-way tie

Fetal position - 10
On your belly - 8
Sideways - 9

I'm going to bed now, it wil be interesting to see which position will be the winner :) ....................... Goodnite all !

I prefer the "spooning on the side, with insertion" myself, but that position leaves the not-so-minor dilemma of what to do with the arm that's squished against the bed..

It usually depends on the situation...

if I'm just going to sleep normally, then I'll usually pass out on my back. I sometimes start out on my side, with an arm up (but not under my head) under the pillow. However, I almost always get to my back eventually

if I'm pulling an "all-nighter," but feel the need for a two hour nap or something, then I'll sleep on my stomach, both arms under the pillow and my head, and one leg bent at a roughly 90 degree angle. I've found that I'm MUCH more receptive to being awakened by the alarm clock in this position than on my back.

if I'm lying down for a nap, then usually either on my stomach (as mentioned above), or on my side with one arm up under the pillow and my head.

That is a problem but it gets numb after 15 mins anyway.

It's all about the visuals... unless it was a drinking night, in which case the back of her head might be the best option... :)
