Poll: What's the "easiest" fo these math classes?

I use the term "easiest" loosely..

a) Multivariable Calculus
2) Elem Differential Equations
o) Elementary Linear Algebra
q) Discrete Mathematics

1) Elementary Linear Algebra

2) Discrete Mathematics

3) Elem Differential Equations

4) Multivariable Calculus

Easist to hardest

if you have a logical mind discrete math is easy. its more logic than math.

of all the math courses in CSCI i took it was my easiest by far.

i would say easiest to hardest:

1) Discrete Mathematics
2) Elem Differential Equations
3) Elementary Linear Algebra
4) Multivariable Calculus

i wouldn't say thats the order to take them but thats not what you asked.

Hmm, based on the prereqs at my CC, Discrete "only" has a prereq of Calc I, while Linear requires Calc II. And also based on the descriptions they provide it seems easier as well.

Thanks for all the help!

I don't know, maybe be asian has something to do with it. 😉
Calc 1 was stuff I did in high school, and Calc 2 wasn't that hard.

I'm not saying upper level math classes are easy, just those two.

a) Discrete math
b) Linear Algebra
c) Diff Eqs
d) Mulivariable Calc

But my friends all told me that UCB Discrete math is impossible while linear algebra isn't as bad (all relatively speaking, of course!). Personally, I thought that discrete math was not too bad, but I'm not a Golden Bear, I'm an Aggie...whatever that is. 😱

GB is taking these classes while he's still in high school. So I wouldn't necessarily say they will be "easy" for him. But he can do it.

PLUS, he's asian. So that scores you extra credit right there.

You really can't answer such a question...

It really depends on how each subject is taught, i.e., how rigorous you go about learning it.

I have actually taken all 4 of theose courses, albeit a long time ago. Diff Eq was pretty easy and so was MV Calculus. Discrete math and Linear Algebra are quite boring unless you like theory.

Mister T makes a good point though. The instructor makes a big difference.

i find them all easy.

sorry i could not help

i did differential equations and multivariable calculus in high school.

i also did some linear algebra in high school.

um, never heard of discrete math before HS, but i took that my freshman year.

One key word here is elementry Linear Algebra, This is needed to do MVC. To me elementary LA means simple Matrix and Vector arithmetic with little or no theory.
