Right now I am driving a 93 Geo Prizm. It runs fine and has great gas mileage, but its a Geo Prizm. 😛
My dad was going to sell my old truck and help me out in buying a used car, probably a Honda or Toyota. This sounds good because I will be getting a newer, better looking car (my Geo looks new, but it is still ugly imo).

I get a call from my uncle this morning asking if I would like to go with him and my two cousins to Hong Kong for the month of August. He is a professor and goes every year, but this could be my only chance to go. My dad says that if I want to keep my Geo (probably until next summer) he will pay for me to go to Hong Kong for a month.

I'm almost positive I'm going to go to Hong Kong (since I don't have a job so I have nothing to do 😛). I think that the trip will be worth more to me than a new (used) car. What do you think?

That's what I'm thinking. My car runs fine, it's just that I think it looks horrible. I'm not too worried about SARS, either. If I get it, I get it. I've never been outside of the country and I think this would be a great experience. Getting rid of my Geo would also be good, though.

That's the thing, I probably can't. Since he is going there on buisiness I'm getting a good bit for free. Also, he has been going every summer for about 10 years now, so he knows some fun stuff to do. I highly doubt I will ever have another chance to go to Hong Kong, especially with someone to show me around.
 
Isn't the Prism the same car as a Toyota Corolla? Those are good reliable cars, hang onto it.

Ye gods man, get on that plane. *Especially* if you've never been overseas. And a month is just the perfect time to visit...if you don't like it, you'll get back soon enough. If you don't get SARS now, it'll just be some other ailment years down the road, and by then you'll have been to Hong Kong and long traded in your Prizm.
 
Go to Hong Kong - it's a once in a lifetime opportunity and would undoubtedly be tons of fun.
 
there will always be more cars. there may not be another month in hong kong.. and even if there is, it'll never be so much fun as it will be while you're young.

you have a car that is reliable and affordable and paid for.. you have no committments to get in the way of going, and you don't have to pay for it. I can't imagine why you're even wondering about this.. if I were you I'd be packing!
