Situation:

Your SO gets raped and is taken to the hospital the next day to make sure she is ok.

Your SO doesn't beleive in abortion and refuses to take an emergency contraceptive pill because of the possibility that there could already be a fertilized egg, even if it has not planted itself in the uterus.

Case 1: Your SO gets pregnant from the rape and decides to keep the child and give it up for adoption.

Case 2: Your SO does not get pregnant, but she still didn't respect your wishes to take the ECP to PREVENT the chance that she could get pregnant from the pregnancy.

Now, personally, I think that abortion in almost all cases is wrong. The only exceptions where I would find it acceptable would be:

1. The pregnancy threatened the health of the mother. This is very rare.
2. The woman was raped and gave no consent to getting pregnant. In this case, the fetus never had a right to life anyway. It's still murder, but I could live with it.

In both cases what would you do?

uhm...doesn't really matter what your wishes are in my opinion...i mean it's great to put in your input but when it comes down to it, she can do whatever she wishes to do...that being said you can always leave...i just know that i wouldnt'
 
I wouldn't be with someone who wouldn't believe in an abortion resulting from rape.

I would never make my wishes known in that kind of situation. The last thing you need the mother saying is "that man wanted you aborted!"

and it will happen.

that is one of the major things i would hope would be all part of the "we have the same thoughts/beliefs on X."

there are some issues here:
1. if she were to get pregnant, this pregnancy will be a constant reminder of the rape. rape is hard enough to get over, nevermind constantly being reminded of it via a pregnancy. keeping a pregnancy is noble, but will open itself to a huge emotional upset that will take a large toll on your relationship.

2. after a rape, it is imperative that she be taken to the hospital asap, not the "next day."


in the end, it is her body and she will do whatever she GD well pleases with it. it is not your decision.
don't leave her because she was raped, no matter what the outcome.

i don't believe it is THAT rare. ever hear of pre-eclampsia or eclampsia?
there are a lot of other potential health problems.

I couldn't be with someone who had a child that wasn't from me, even if it was from rape.
 
Well, I want to say that I'd stand by the woman I love no matter what. But at the same time, I have to wonder if I would even love a woman that I do not agree with, I mean if we don't agree on this how many other things wouldn't we agree on.

I wouldn't be interested in someone that brainwashed, but if you really do care for her, I kind of agree with the others here - it's her decision. That's why I'm pro-CHOICE, not pro-abortion/birth control.

What a stupid scenario. If you're going to believe in pro-choice you have to also believe that the woman has the right to chose not to have the abortion, and you have to believe that it is her choice and only her choice.
 
Yeah, I only date girls that could be considered "liberal femnazis".The girl I am interested in now is president of my school's N.O.W chapter.So I am not too worried about it....
