60 FPS (min) is my target since I use an LCD with a 60 Hz refresh and use Vsync.

An average of 60 means dips of below 20 or30 in high action, which will not be great.

It's kinda fun to be back in the days when every little tweak helped. This is like 98/99 again

I just hope it will run with an average frame rate of 60 at 1280x1024 on my 17" LCD. This is probably wishful thinking tho.

Call me ambitious, but I prefer 125FPS @ 1280x1040x32 w. 4x AA & 2x AF. Maybe it is in my head, but I do believe I can notice the different between 60fps and 125fps. It's like everything about the game changes from 60 to 125. It's more immersive and everything looks smoother, like if I was really looking at something that's there, behind a glass wall, rather than some animation on TV (or my monitor). When I first played with the above settings, I nearly felt like sticking my hands in and grabbing the items on screen.

i won't know until I try it out. Every game has unique characteristics such as diferent ranges of fps from highest to lowest. It is very possible to have 40fps/avg without dropping below 30fps. Higher the better, but I'll know when I get the game(s).

I'm trying to be realistic about this. I figgure 800X600 40 to 50 fps with 4XAA 8XAF. Rad9700Pro, AXP 2600+.

Maybe next year on a Prescott or Opteron and an R450 will get me 1024X768 60 to 70 fps.

61-80 ... but maybe you should have listed minimum acceptable rates. Cause I certainly would not be mad if I got over 80 =) But I would like no less than 60. A minimum closer to 80 is much better.

Average or minimum?

My target for all games is a minimum (not average) of 60 FPS at 1600 x 1200 but my absolute lowest limit is a minimum of 45 FPS at 1152 x 864.

I prefer 1280x960 for my games and would like to get at least 60FPS with AA/AF on those 2 games-not sure if either my 9800/5900 will do it, gonna look at the 9800XT specs/benches when it's released.
