Poll: What should interstate speed limits be?

I hate 70mph speed limits. They're crap. Traffic could easily move much faster. I do 100-110 quite often, and the more I drive, the more reasonable 100 mph sounds

What do you think?

65, no faster. The faster you drive, the more gas you consume. In the interest of the environment, 65.

Screw the environment. In the interest of me getting to my destination, 75.

90mph. I rarely go faster than 90 due to gas mileage taking a nose dive, and I really don't feel comfortable going faster than that due to slow cars that will hog lanes and cause you to have to slow down. If they made it to where EVERYONE had to do 70 or higher I could do 90 all day.

Let the people go their own speed. Just because you don't post a speed limit doesn't mean people are going to floor it all the time. I drove in Germany and it was not this crazy speedway like you'd think it is. It's almost the same as here.

If you really car about the environment, then you should drive no faster then 55 because that was the limit back when they had the oil crisis, better gas mileage.

Except our cars get better gas milage now, so I feel 65 is appropriate.

East coast, 75. Our highways, you know, TURN. Hell, this morning our pansyass 65mph limit caused about eleventy billion accidents (So many accidents that they delayed schools because of it). 65mph limit + dumbshits doing 90 on roads that can reasonably be driven about 80 in good weather + light snowfall = MAYHEM.

Out west? Fvck limits.

80-90, with the passing lane strictly enforced. Cruising in the passing lane would be a greater violation than speeding.

Yeah sure if you like your physical remains to be atomized if you ever have a wreck going that fast... I say 65 is fine. Less fatalities then when going 100+ speeds. that is just insane.

Edit: Actually the more I think about it the more I feel we should have more stringent and tougher driving tests and prequalifications. Our current system is a sinch to pass and does nothing to prevent idiotic drivers from getting behind the wheel and endagering the lives of others.

When Montana had no daytime speed limit, their fatality rate went down. It's been theorized that when you let people make their own decisions, they actually pay attention while driving.

I can't believe that some people are opposed to having the ability to make their own decisions. They think that having an 85 mph speed limit means you must go 85 mph all the time, even around corners. It's called "driving a safe speed". You know when you should slow down, and you know when you can go as fast as you want. Other countries do this and they're fine. I'm an American and I went to Germany and I was fine on roads with no speed limits. I did not see the "no speed limit" sign and accelerate out of control like some people would like you to believe. I didn't see anyone else do it, either. There's nothing different about people born in the USA that prevents them from being responsible.
