I'll be surprised if Android doesn't gain a significant marketshare in the next few years.

If they want to be mass market, though.. it needs to be more user friendly. It is a great mobile OS, but it isn't as easy to pick up and use as an iPhone OS device.

Its getting better with each iteration - and the nice thing is its open, so manufacturers can tweak the UI as they see fit. Have you used HTC's SenseUI for Android? Its beautiful, and definitely more intuitive than stock Android.

Anyway, the stock UI isn't quite as pick-up-and-go friendly as iPhone, but it is improving, and definitely has the advantage over some of the aging platforms like BBOS and WinMo.

Have you compared HTC SenseUI on Android to HTC Sense on Winmo ?

If you have, what advantage does Android have ? Winmo definitely has some advantages over Android.

I haven't actually used Sense on WinMo, that's only on the HD2 and some custom ROMs, but I've used TouchFlo3D. Sense on Android has definite advantages. Mostly its the flexibility/customization - You can add the Sense Widgits however you'd like on the home screens. Also, it has some more options - integration with more services (twitter, etc), better contacts and messaging...not to mention the Android hardware is just generally superior for a touch interface (capacative vs resistive).

Add to that the fact that the core UI for Android is so superior to that of WinMo, it all adds up to SenseUI on Android being considerably better than TouchFlo3D on Windows Mobile.

WTF is up with the %ages in this poll? They're fucked!!

Presumably, since you can pick 2 options, that's the percentage of respondents that picked that option. So even though Android doesn't have 80% of the votes, 80% of people that responded picked Android.

I think WebOS is the best out of all of them, but realistically it'll be Apple for the foreseeable future.

WinMo has great potential but not enough US people are exposed to HTC's awesomeness or Samsung's touchwiz. Instead they think Android will cure all. It's funny because it seems the only real alternative to iPhone is Android... but then again 2 huge US-based companies makes it easy.... also the same reason why Motorola is overhyped in the US but viewed as a POS worldwide. Droid may change that hopefully.
