Wolf550e ,it`s not your fault, there should be a delay before Members can respond, to give you time to finish the poll posting question,I had the same problem ,infact most of us have.
3 different machines, 3 operating systems. Gaming system is Win98. For me Games still too unstable in 2k. File Server is Win2k, due to RAID support for my Fasttrak 100. Web server/Mail server/anything else is Redhat Linux 6.2. Most stable of the machines and needs no maintainence. It's running software based RAID 5 on 3 scsi disks.
I voted but had to comment also. I use a Dual Boot with Win 2k and Win ME. I use 2k the most though when I want/need stability and don't want to take a chance of lockups. ME seems better in some ways in that department than 98 SE but for me 2k is the best if you want it to stay running and never loose your work! I keep 98 and now ME for old games and a very few other things I can't use on 2k. That list is growing smaller and smaller as now there is a 2k driver for my scanner and a few other things that at first would not run in 2k have updates and work great! 2k for me all the way. I can't believe I was one of the winers in that Microsoft contest and actually won 2k but it's the Best thing I have ever won and has made my computer so stable! Microsoft actually did something right when they released 2k.
It seems everyone is giving their opinions on each OS,anyway I still use Win98 OS1,don`t see any need to change it,since it`s been rock stable & as for the the lasttime it crashed well I cannot remember,I also play lots of games so having Win98 as a games platform is important to me.Btw I`ve nothing against Win2000,ME etc.
