I'm currently thinking about getting into this. Specifically sharebuilder.com... Anyone use this one? Please list any positives/negatives in online stock trading also such as personal experiences, transactions rates, tips for beginners, etc...

Thanks!!!

Long-time Datek user here... I joined for the $10 commissions and fast trade confirmations, but the new real-time streaming quotes and mini-charts are also cool. The only complaint that I have is the lack of in-depth stock research, but you can get that for free from Excite or MSN now.

preferred trade. bitching service and software. they dont use web based trading interfaces and did their own software development. they also have their own seats on all the major exchanges, so you dont get other clearing companies

None, not even money under the mattress because I'm poor :(

Once I pay off all my credit debt, then I have to scrape together $2,000 by April 15, 2002 to contribute to my 2001 IRA, think of a way to budget myself to save $3,000 this year for the IRA. THEN I can think about stocks, mutual funds, etc.

I figure why invest if I'm paying 19% or whatever on my loans, credit cards, etc.

Oh great now I'm depressed. Think I'll go find some sollace in the Hot Deals forum :Q

whats the website to perferred trade?

i got an email from ebates about Sharebuilder.com... It says:

Buy stocks for just $4 - Or choose ShareBuilder's All you can Build subscription fee and pay just $12 per month for unlimited stock buys.

No account or investment minimums - Start investing with as little or as much as you want - even just $20! ShareBuilder fits any budget.

No inactivity fees - Invest at your own pace without any penalties.

Dollar-based investing - Buy stocks and index funds in dollar amounts and put every penny to work for you in the market.

Looks good to me, but noone else here uses them?

<< ETRADE but i want to switch to DATEK >>

why?

Well, with Datek, all accounts get a flat $9.95 trade commission. You have to pay up to $19.95 a trade on E-Trade, depending on what you stock you buy, and how often you trade. Datek also has a 60-second trade execution guarantee, or the commission is waived. E-Trade customers have better access to IPO's, however, but there haven't been nearly as many IPO's lately as there was during the .com boom.

Of course, this would be a better topic for the Motley Fool forums, but that is my 2 cents.
