Just wondering. BTW:

Membrane: The most common kind. Fairly light and quiet.
Buckling-spring: The old-fashioned kind. Big, heavy and clicky.
Flat: Made of flexible plastic, you can roll them up for storage.
Laser: Projects an image of a keyboard on a flat surface.

Also, if anyone's interested, I came across this place which is selling IBM Model M keyboards for 20 bucks. :)

Membrane keyboards have plastic membranes under the keys to detect keystrokes. Buckling-spring keyboards have switches under each key to detect keystrokes, and use springs to hold the keys up.

"flat" and "laser" are just common terms I've heard to describe those particular types of keyboards.

Explain why my poll "sux".

....you need options like natural, multimedia, bluetooth, wireless....never head of any of your options before. Are those some sort of "nick-name" you have for keyboards?

membrane, buckling spring... :confused::confused:

It refers to the mechanism used to register a keypress.
Although I never heard "buckling spring" they were just "Mechanical."

BTW, I use Omnikeys with ALPS mechanical keyswitchs. Ratatatatat!

I really like my Logitech membrane at home... it feels quite a bit like the clicking keyboard, without the noise
I really like the feel of the clicky ones, but they are non existant anymore unless you have an old one lying around... anyhow i don't really have a preference...whatever types good :D (and I love my old Logi.. it's about 4-5 years old)

Does anyone know where one can buy a buckling spring aka "clicky" USB only keyboard? Damn Abit and their legecy free IT7-Max (that I bought, heh) ... I'm stuck with only USB keyboards and I need a good replacement one.

I prefer the old IBM/DEC/Tandy mechanical keyboards, but all of mine have died. I don't have any qualms about the new membrane models from Microsoft. They've nearly got the touch of the older models and are dirt cheap.
