I know this is a VERY VERY broad question, so do your best to narrow your selection down to the drug that YOU personally feel is the most negative drug in YOUR life, based on YOUR life experiences and associations (whether direct OR in-direct) with that particular drug.

That's hard to say, I've seen people seriously messed up on all of those.

To broad a question. Heroin is pretty dangerous on a personal level, but it doesn't cause nearly the harm as alcohol or tobacco in social cost.

Oh really? The social cost of heroin (decreased productivity, IV drug use and its implications) can't be that unquantifiable considering that it makes even the most responsible people becomes drug-addled zombies. There was a kid at my school who wsaa bright guy. Started doing H, and it got so bad that he would piss in bottles around his room because he was too lazy to go to the bathroom. When they got full, he'd pour them out the window. He travelled a mile on foot to get the H, though.

I'm talking numbers. Way fewer people use heroin. You'll notice that I said heroin is the most dangerous, but there are so few, it is relatively a minor problem socially. Alcohol is harmful physically to oneself, and the social costs are much higher.

I did cocaine for the first time ever on Friday night. It wasn't all that bad. My heart was out of my chest though ;)

I did coke once when I was a teenager. Didn't do a thing. The guys who gave it to me were flipping out, they couldn't believe I wasn't getting high. Smoked opium once too, was sorta nice but no way worth the risk to my health.

On a personal scale of danger, I'd rate it this way:

1. Chocolate
2. Coffee
3. Marijuana
4. Over the counter
5. Pure uncut cocaine
6. Prescriptions
7. Cigarettes
8. LSD and other psychotropic drugs (psychological not physical danger)
9. Alcohol
10. Heroin
11. Prohibition
12. Government

As far as physical/mental effects, PCP is probably the craziest stuff around. As far as getting addicted, and the effects of that, probably crack or heroin.

Crystal Meth. Not only for what it does to your body, but for what people who are on it will do to get it.

Azreale,

I wasn't, sorry. I figure I might as well try it once. I was drunk and high as hell, so whatever, right? To tell you the truth, it felt like I took something like 6 Xenadrine's and a couple Red Bull. I don't see myself doing it again in the near future, but you never know. Honestly, I think my days of drugs are mostly past. This time last year I was doing much the same but popping xanax's and valiam's like they were candy. Haven't touched those in a while.

Ciao belle.

Depends on how you look at it.

From an overall cost to society: probably alcohol. Many, many people drink and I'm sure everyone has commited at least one titanic f*ckup when drunk. Factor in lost work time, illness, treatment, impact on families/relationships, etc.

In terms a drug's ability to ruin your life in very short order: crank/crystal meth. Users become addicted, on average, the third time they try that crap. Once hooked, they need to do increasing amounts of the drug to get the same effect and eventually fry their brains, have a psychotic break and kill or injure themselves and/or others in a fit of paranoia. Even if you do manage to kick the addiction, you'll likely have brain damage for the rest of your life. That stuff is tha debbil.

I'm not considering food since without food we will all die. Thus food isn't a harmful thing. Too much food is harmful, but food itself isn't.

Alcohol by far. It affects more people in a bad way than any of the other drugs combined. It affects and kills more innocent people than all the rest of those drugs combined. Plus I don't know anyone who was addicted to those other drugs who wasn't first an alcoholic. It starts back in high school. In their minds, "who cares if I break this little law, this alcohol drug is fun". In the vast majority of cases you get away with the crime. If you are caught, big deal it is a $50 fine. Not even a slap on the wrist. They learn that breaking laws doesn't have any bad effects. After many times getting away with it, it comes time to move on to bigger and better drugs. Now if alcohol abuse was stopped to begin with, there would be a lot fewer people willing to try breaking even more serious laws... Of course this was all a generalization, I'm sure some people started with the others and not alcohol.

Note: most of what I said applies to Nicotine as well (I didn't see it at first glance).
