Base it on how good the SURPRISE ENDING was, not on how good the movie was in general....

ive always felt usual suspects is highly overrated primarily for the reason that if you watch the movie there are lots of inconsistencies in the story... .they "trick" you into being shocked at the identity of kaiser soze because there's really nothing there to suggest it's him in the first place

Except that it sucked ;) Tough call, all of those were pretty good surprise endings. I will go with Shawshank because it was a positive twist.

You forgot "Seven" and "Identity."

Voted Usual Suspects, but Primal Fear is a CLOSE second, follwed by Fight Club.

Matchstick Men was kind of predictable.

Never seen Mulholland Drive, but that's because I think David Lynch is a total hack who has a fan base solely consisting of really annoying film students who want to look smart by pretending to know what his films are about, when in reality, even Lynch himself has no idea what he's doing.

yeah... thats why it looks like a ripoff... sorta like how equilibrium looks like a ripoff of the matrix

I was told about the Fight Club ending, so I wasn't suprised...and I only saw 'Matchstick Men" out of the rest of that list, which ending pissed me off, but was interesting...so I voted for that. :)

the fact that he created that escape route and never told anyone

I wouldn't consider that a "twist ending". It's more of a variation on the "Count of Monte Cristo" theme.
