I'm asking because I wanted to create a schedule that every year I'll upgrade my main pc.

I know everyday is different, and their are different deal, but mainly their are seasons.

I was thinking may, june?

i buy when i see good deals. Even if I don't need, I porbly would get it someday. And if i don't use it i just put it up on ebay and sometimes even make a profit.

Right after school lets out. Give everything updated, and then spend the next three months troubleshooting before school starts up again.

I usually do major upgrades in August or September, right before school.

I find that right around August/September is a good time to upgrade. That is right about when hardware is pretty cheap for fast stuff and right before memory starts going up for the holiday's. I don't tend to get the aboslute fastest when that time hits, but its getting cheaper and cheaper to get the fastest, so I may go that way come this time.

Looks like it'll probably be a 1.4 or 1.5 Athlon with DDR ram. I wish I could get a GF3, but that'll wait until a GF4 comes out =)

Whenever a new series of products is released, or there are a lot of price drops, I upgrade.

For instance: this fall, the Asus A7N266 (nForce chipset) motherboard will be out, the Athlon 4 processors will be up to 1.5 GHz+, Crucial PC2100 Cas2 DDR SDRAM will be out (right now it's Cas 2.5), and the GeForce3 will have lower prices (and there may be a GF3 Ultra out too). That's when I'm planning to upgrade.

While the old parts can still bring you some cash to help pay for the new ones. It takes talent to balance the cost of new stuff with what you get for the old stuff :)
