Ok, I know about 90% of people in here are AMD nuts, and I always see conflicting reviews of socket A coolers. So everyone, what is your favorite? Also consider noise and price, not just raw performance. Maybe we will get this settled once and for all!

Also! forgot to mention: if you can, include what kind of temps you've been getting and also WHY it's your favorite (I know, this sounds like a damn school assignment, but c'mon, it's fuuuun!:D)

I think the Swifttech MC462 is...but it's kind of huge to...

I would go with the MC370 or Taisol CGK760042.
And I don't know which of the two is better because no one will answer my threads about it :|

I'm using the Alpha PAL 60xx (forgot exact number heh). It seems to do the job real well for me.

I can only share my experiences...

I've got the Alpha PAL 6035 with the fan from a VolcanoII. Works real well for me. Tbird 1.333 (not OC) runs around 30C idle and 43C load (+/- 5C depending on ambient temp).

Taisol CGK760 - best overall performer: excellent clip, good performance, average price.

millenium glaciator cooler (don't confuse this one with the ocz gladiator)
the millenium cooler is the only cooler that can hang with or even beat the swiftech 462(previous champ beating pep66t, hedgehog and other heavyweights by a respectable margin) and it can be had for less than 40 bucks and it is quiet when compared to the delta fan. just read the review on overclockers.com. It so good that overclockers.com said that this cooler blurrs the line between air and watercooling.

Let me put it this way, the Taisol is one of the least loudest coolers today and an added plus is that it gives you adequate cooling even with its stock fan.

i love the fop32 with a 40ish cfm 80mm fan straped on with the clips (only takes a min or two to mod it.)

the cooling is just as good if not better then the stock fop32-1 but its alot quieter

as for temps: i use this setup on several boards, the asus a7v133 (with asusprobe that shows higher then other motherboards) my cpu gets up to 41c (duron @933 @1.8 core voltage

on my iwill kk266r board with via hardware monitor cpu gets to 35c (duron @960 @1.8 core voltage)

I have a 1330@1500
My old HS/Fan - Alpha pal6035 with Y.S. Tech fan: 30-35*C idle & 50-59*C load.

New HS/Fan - MC462-A with Sanyo Denki: 28-34*C idle & 40-44*C load.

The Denki is only slightly louder IMO. Oh, and 1500 wasn't very stable with alpha.

Oh, here we go again.

Come on guys. Taisol? Globalwin? Kanie Hedgehog? They are mid-range coolers. He asked what the BEST Socket A cooler was. That is, as always, the Swiftech MC462-A. Especially with the Delta 80mm 68.5cfm fan.
Nothing else touches it, for air cooling.

Actually pabster, if you read the post he quite clearly says:

<< Also consider noise and price, not just raw performance. >>

The MC462 + 65CFM (whatever..) Delta is the best raw performance, but it's very expensive and very loud.
