I think you are wrong. I definitely think the emotion is there, however, I don't believe they will have enough support and cooler heads will prevail. But we're playing a lot of 'what ifs' here.

Everyone thinks the GOP will lose at least one if not both houses in a couple weeks. The Dems are down right gitty over it. If in the end, when all the votes are counted, the GOP holds on whet will become of the left? It was bad enough when they couldn't defeat Bush in the last presidential election with all his problems and this year the whole GOP is beaten down. I myself am kinda hoping the Dems win this go around so the Right will move back towards the center..

How about none of the above?

If the Dems fail to take control of both houses, I predict months of Republicans partying hard enough to make 2004 look like a funeral. Like 2004, we'll see a lot of talk about how the country has "moved to the right" and the Dems are "out of touch" with the country and how they'll never get power back again. The Dems will take a look at what happened and be ready for 2008, while the Republicans will pander even more to the fundamentalists (not just the religious ones either) and the far right. All in all, it will set the GOP up for a HARD fall in 2008. I actually think that the Dems will be better off if they DON'T take control back this year and instead are able to focus on 2008.

if the repubs get keep both houses, then maybe they can find the time to fulfill the promises they made in their infamous Republican Contract With America

get a load of item #1 of their proposed bills:

1. THE FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY ACT: A balanced budget/tax limitation amendment and a legislative line-item veto to restore fiscal responsibility to an out- of-control Congress, requiring them to live under the same budget constraints as families and businesses.

ya gotta love these sleazy two-faced liars. pffffft!

Bush will see it as a "mandate" tp continue doing exactly what he has been doing. nothing will change, more young soldiers will continue to die. Bush will continue enacting progressively more draconian and bizarre legislation allowing him to do whatever the hell he wants to do.
