apparently this game does not work with the 6600 AGP cards. I only got it to work by my room mate installing it on his comp and sending me the directory. It works fine now.

I'd give it a "D-" since I can't even get the damn game started. I paid $50.00 for it, and I find out that it's not compatiable with a 6600GT AGP. The demo worked fine with my 6600GT AGP, and now the full version states in the readme file that the 6600GT AGP is not compatiable with the game. The retail box clearly shows that it supports a chipset of aNvidia 5700 or greater to run the game. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!
I didn't give it an "F" because I'm optimistic that there will be a patch to support the 6600GT AGP version. F.U.E.A.
Have a nice day!![]()
I have a 6600GT AGP and it runs just fine.
Did you purchase the DVD or CD version?
DVD version, A64 3200+, 6600GT AGP, 1GB, nvidia driver 77.30
I installed the driver in my usual way, remove old driver, reboot to safe mode, run driver cleaner, reboot, installed 77.30 from demo.
There's also an offical 77.72 driver at nvidia's site but I haven't experienced any problems so I'm not going to install the newest WHQL driver.
I have experienced a few problems, like the server browser totally freezing once and I got a crash to desktop while playing multiplayer once. Suttering during the first few minutes on a new map, but it smooths out.
Also the key to having fun for me is to get into a good squad, then it doesn't matter if my team wins or losses, I have fun either way.
Overall a solid B, good game but could use some improvement. Plays well with others.

I did exactly what you suggested, twice, and it still does not work. I even ran all of my anti-virus/spyware utils and defragged the hard drive before starting the game again and it still freezes up at the BF intro logo. I hate to do it, but I may have to do the dreaded clean install. If I do a clean XP install, it's still not guaranteed to work, so does anyone have any othe suggestions?

i wonder if you could unlock the weapons/kits in the retail like you could in the demo.

I voted 'F'. The game is fabulous, no doubt, but EA?
I bought the DVD version, installed it, but when I launched the game I was told I was using an emulator. I uninstalled Daemon tools (only thing I could think of), and same.
EA gave me a bunch of advice (including telling me to upgrade my nForce driver, and then link to an older version...), but in the end it just didn't pan out. (I suspect Safedisc hasn't been tested on SCSI DVD-ROMs lately... But "Pirates!" works, and I think they too use Safedisc)
So I installed a no-CD patch. And before I went online I decided to learn how to fly a helicopter. Two days of single player gaming (no crashes) and I thought I was ready for the big time. Immediately after joining a game the game crashes. Then the next attempt crashes too, and so on... (bunch of Access Violations) The longest I've been online is five minutes.![]()
Below is a list of software that is known as, or known to include CD Emulation Software that could potentially prevent the game from playing properly:
* Fantom CD Emulator
* Alcohol 120%
* Nero Image Drive
* Phantom CD
* Clone CD
* Ark Virtual Drive
* Veritas DLA

Yes you can do it on your machine for single player or LAN. If you want unlocked weapons for multiplayer, you have to find a server (unranked) that has unlocked all kits. They're out there and I've tried the different weapons. They aren't better in my opinion but then I mostly play medic and the extra zoom from the scope usually tempts me into shooting at targets that are too far away.

I have one more complaint. I want to be able to hide in supply boxes like a Trojan Supply Box and pop out yelling "supplies" when enemy soldiers re-equip. :beer:
