I would second the vote for the evga Geforce 2mx. However, I would suggest getting the Radeon DDR LE from www.newegg.com for about $84 shipped. This card will CRUSH an MX in everything but low-res 16bit color tests. (I got 3000 in 3dmark2k1 while my friend got about 2200 with his Geforce 2MX OCed to 200/200... (we have similar systems) ).

I'd suggest you'll look for a card with DDR memory on it... quite a bit faster than a SDram one. But then, you can get an ATI Radeon 64DDR for the same price and ASUS V7700 for $40 more. For SDRAM MX I'd go for ASUS or Leadtek, both have TV-out(if you need it) and ship for about $130 - $140.(here in finland)

Well if you are getting an MX2 then it's a budget card - you could try to source my card which is an Axle GF MX2 which has -5ns Winbond chips :)

This allows for a 210/230 overclock which is probably about as high as you will get :)

It costs US$74!

What games do you play - and what games do you intend to play?

You can read the review here that made me decide to buy that particular MX2 card.

Here is a whole Thread about this card from Singapore.

I'm very happy with this card so far - especially considering the price :)

Lucifer you must be in a haze - 'cos the MX2 plays CS at 1024 x 768 like a smooth dream :)

And for US$74 at that :)

The original GF256 must be a Voodoo Banshee then I guess..... ;)

If there is not a lot of $$$ of difference then yes the V5 will be a good deal

You may not realise that V5's are still very expensive (US$293 to be precise) outside the USA - I could buy almost 4 x GF MX2's for the price of 1 x V5 in Hong Kong!!!

I just bought the MSI 817 geforce2 mx card and I like it alot. I bought the Hercules MX from a local store to try out til my MSI arrived and I noticed that the MSI has better 2d image than the Hercules did. I'm pretty happy with the MSI and it only cost me $89 from mwave.com. NewEgg has it a bit cheaper but I'm not a fan of them like many others on here, for certian reasons. Also, my MSI came with 5.5ns ram which is supposed to be ok for over clocking if you're into that. It also came with a nice size heatsink for a mx card. I would say go ahead and buy this one, you'll be happy with it. ;)

No it isn't.

It's like the Voodoo3-2000 of nVidia garbage

Rubbish. You're thinking of the M64. Now that was garbage.

Regardless of your card choice. Make sure you buy either an Elsa or a Leadtek. They use high quality filters so there 2D better than most card makers.
