I for one would LOVE to see an SVT Ford Taurus SHO.

Wishlist for Ford Taurus SHO:

1.Same 32 valve DOHC V-8 from previous Taurus with near 300HP and 330 lbf/t
2.Euro turned suspension, preferably unequal length control arms all around.
3.sway bars
4.BIG cross drilled BREMBO brakes, we're talking 12-13" discs on all corners
5.Loss of about 200lbs
6 17x8.5 5 spoke wheels, or maybe the ones from the '95 Mustang Cobra R
7 Dual Exhausts
8.Moon roof standard
9.Autostick, tiptronic type transmission to please the plebian masses
10. 6 speed Borg-Warner gearbox
11. Make it RWD or AWD

I think I'm forgetting something...but meh...the Taurus looks pretty decent imo...and I think some Ford should have SVT tune it. What do you guys think?

America needs a good sports sedan...and surely you don't think the Pontiac Bonneville is doing anything for the U.S' image as a serious sports sedan maker

I'll never be able to visualize the Taurus as a sports sedan, to me it'll always be a large volume, rather uninteresting family sedan. I'd rather have us Americans build what we build best, big trucks.

I like Taurus SHO's. If they made one like you described, only with a 6-speed manual, I'd probably buy it. Especially if it was AWD.

Oh... They should drop the 'Stang's 4.6L V8 in it, too.

:D

If I recall correctly, wasn't the '90 Eagle Premier AWD in its ES form?

Anyways....all wheel drive...it could happen. Okay okay, prolly not:(

The 96~99 oval model was ugly, but the 86~95 was great.
And, now the re-skined Taurus 2000 look quite good.
No more SHO engine only the Vulcan 153hp engine & the Duratec 200hp. Not too quick, but combine with style, its will give the Camry & the Accord a run for their money.

"AWD American sedan? Like that'll happen anytime soon "

Uh didnt amc already do this in the early 80s. Remember the eagle stationwagon? They also made a 4 and 2 door version. Ok probably not what you were wanting though :).

If I would have to pick an American sports coupe, It would have to be the Grand Prix GTP. It may be FWD, but it has tons of potential. If that car were tuned properly, made AWD, and had a new interior (damn GM and their plastic! damn them to hell!), it could give any car in the class a serious run for its money. As far as a sedan goes, it would probably be the Olds Aurora V8.

Even after they restyled it, it's still ugly. And the SHO is dead anyway.

I agree the Grand Prix looks fabulous compared to other pontiacs. The interior must go however. You look at Cadillacs, and then you look at Pontiac, and you just can't stop from asking yourself, "How can they both be GMs?".

The Ford Taurs, IMO, looks good, not great, but good amongst the class its in.

Oh well...how about this, who here thinks the Lexus IS300 bears a striking resemblence to the 95-00 Honda Civics? Well I certainly as hell do!:)

The 00 Taurus is a fine visual upgrade to the 96-99 Taurus.

I drove a rental with the no frills motor, and no frills it was.

On the other hand, if you like the Taurus and want a nicely equipped, suprisingly peppy new model to drive, try out the 00 or 01 Olds Intrigue.

You will find it far superior. I like it more than the 98 SHO I drove a while back.

The intrigue is better built and much better looking...more powerful too than the 200HP Duratec

everything domestic sucks, bad
my uncle works at ford and I know how much quality goes into the products (none)

Gotta be european, and maybe even oriental, but only because of the efficiency

Yea, the Lincoln LS does look nice on those 17" wheels.

I think the Cadillac STS looks good too with the same Ground Effects found on the Seville pace car.

As for all domestic cars sucking bad, that's not true, the Ford Focus ZX3 is alright, if not really ugly. The Cadillac Catera is okay too. It's not handsome, but it's not ugly.

Finally, you can't say the Corvette Zo6 is bad, even though I've never been in one. It just oozes limited edition. I want one.
