Anyone who bags on Delta Chi is asking for it. =)
I used to be really anti-fraternity until I joined one. I have to say it's the best move I've made during my college career.

*edit*

Oh and I'll say anyone who doesn't think highly of the Greek system obviously hasn't tried it. It's a lot more than socializing and booze. The Greek system GPA is higher than the all-school GPA, and our house ranks #1 academically. Yahoo.

Frats are a waste of time and it sucks when they want you to pay to get into the parties.

amnesiac 2.0,

So, does the 2.0 represent your GPA or blood-alcohol level? ;)

I was very anti frat as well. Up until most of my friends were in frats. I never joined one but if I could do school all over again I probably would.

<< The Greek system GPA is higher than the all-school GPA, >>

So what? It's still lower than mine.

On my campus, the dorm i was in last year was known to be the biggest partiers on campus, and we were the scholars dorm. On my campus,

Fraternities can offer many people skills they need, yes there is more than drinking and partying. Some people may never be exposed to the skills until they actually reach the business world...

Thraashman...I agree. TKEs are incredibly arrogant and i have yet to meet one that i get along with.
Amnesiac 2.0: I agree, you dont really know it till you try it. I was anti fraternity until a friend joined. Straightened him out and he had tons of fun. I am pledging right now and am loving it. What school are you at?

ah yes. they tried to lock my roommate up in one of their rooms. fortunately, he was more drunk than she was and couldn't lock the door. doesn't say much for their intelligence level.

personally, if you meet each person in the frat individually, they are nice people. as a big group, they can scare the living daylights out of you.

i don't like frats: i think they are elitist in how they choose people. same goes for sororities. image is everything.

you cannot judge all fraternities based on a bad experience with one, i agree that i have yet to meet a Teke i like, but yet have liked every DEKE i've met. Sigma Alpha Epsilon i also have no major qualms with, i just do'nt think that you can make an overall assumption on fraternities based on 1 bad experience

I was anti greek till I went greek, and I can say that it was the best thing I did in college. I had a blast, met lots of girlies, adn created life-long friendships. Yes, you do take a QPA hit, but hell, it was worth it. Hell, I even enjoyed pledging :)

Oh, I don't like TKEs either.

They were ok until Reagan got elected... they got arrogant because "The Gipper" was a TKE.

Hmm, do I dare say anything, lest someone make a biased an unfounded statement?

You really shouldn't judge fraternities by what is presented in movies, television, or the media. I agree, some fraternities that party constantly can be considered detrimental to studying. However, my fraternity, Phi Kappa Sigma, aka The Skulls, is a dry fraternity. We do not have parties in our house, nor do we drink in our house. And, to say that fraternities are elitist is like saying a soccer team that only picks the most capable players for the team is elitist. Fraternities are not for everyone. However, to make blatant statements, such as, "fraternities are dumb," or "fraternities are stupid," shows your lack of intelligence. Oh, yeah, because we are DRY, and we are THE SKULLS...well, that's it, I suppose...

Joining a fraternity was probably the best decision I made in college. It was a wonderful experience.

if you're really anti-greek you wouldn't have pledged... thats like being a gore supporter and then voting for bush...

i dont agree with that either, i was completely anti-greek until presented with the chance to start our own chapter of DKE on our campus, the opportunity to become a founding father changed a lot of us that were previously anti-greek

I also don't get the appeal. Hmm, I'm not a member. Yet I can still go to parties, meet new people, get trashed whenever I want and I don't have to pay fees to do this or piss-away the time for the 'responsibilities'.
