I prefer the latest version of Opera, which is version 6 for those of you under that rock with Osama. I think it blows IE6 out of the water. IE6 crashes on me constantly and I have no problems with Opera.

I've tried every browser known to man and Opera just seems to be the most stable to me, and the newest version even looks perty.

Please answer the poll. I'm very curious to see how many of you have either switched to Opera or maybe switched to another browser recently, because I just cannot be the only one who no matter what I do can't get IE6 to work properly.

IE 6 here. I don't have any problems whatsoever with it so I won't be using anything else anytime soon. I have used opera in linux (and a little in windows) and it is a very good browser, much better than netscape/mozilla in my opinion. I just have no need for it, so I'm not going to change.

In past versions of IE I never had any substantial problems until this recent release. I had been using Opera as a backup and when I discovered that the newest version of IE didn't work well for me I ended up liking the newest Opera version that I never went back and installed IE5.5.

BTW, I didn't include Mozilla because it's basically a stripped down version of Netscrap. Although Mozilla does work a bit better that Netscape, I still could never get it completely buggless on my systems.

Holy crap, i'm sensing a trend here. If I knew this I would have just asked which version of IE you guys were using, because apparently I am the only Opera user on this forum.:Q J/K, I know there are at least some Opera fans on this forum.

That bites hard.. I have never experienced a single problem witih IE6.. since getting it, i've switched from Opera being my main browser, to IE6 because IE6 is that stable.. I love it.

IE 6 when using a Windows OS.
Konqueror when using my Linux box.

Considering getting Opera for both, but I'm happy for the moment and have other more important things to take care of right now.

This poll is invalid. You forgot:

Mozilla
Galeon
Konquerer
Lynx
Earlier versions of IE
Earlier versions of Opera

😀

Some things to note:
When you wipe out your OS and reinstall, Opera can still work w/o having to reinstall, all of your settings will still be there.

When Opera DOES crash, it recovers better than IE and doesn't take down the OS with it.

Opera keeps popup ads contained

Opera can force popups to appear on the bottom

Opera can disable just videos, just sound, disable javascript with just a couple clicks (file>quick preferences>enable...)

Opera is MUCH faster than IE and Netscape.

Opera downloads are much smaller (3.2MB vs. 20+MB), I don't like having to wait two hours to fix another IE security hole.

Javascript popups can be closed (not allowing them to reopen) with just a single click.

OMG, so after reading this thread, i decided to use opera for windows. Uhhmm, the forums are damn fast now. I mean damn fast. So cool

peace
