All of them have been equally reliable to me, though the Segate 200Gb still has a 3yr warranty, something rare these days.

After having 4 WD's (two 40 gig and two 100 gig) go in a row and a consistent flow of Maxtors (6 and 10 gig) go out here at work.....Seagate.

Been using Maxtors since my 425 meg drive years ago (which still works perfectly). When my last maxtor died I bought a WD while the max was out for RMA.

Seems to me that the Segate should be the most reliable because there liquid suspention, which makes them the quietest, also reduces friction - less heat and less wear and tear - so, I presume they last longer. All things being equal, I would still rather have a Seagate because they are 1000 times quieter (actually they are probably more like a billion times quieter - about 9db or more).

I'm using a Samsung right now, but I got it for free. (Dumb friend had one break on him, thought it might be fixable, gave it to me, I RMA'd)

Have all three drives. Prefer WD and Seagate over Maxtor, but I have no problems with Maxtor.
Just a preference.

Along with a new 250gb Hitachi DeskStar.

All these drives are made reliably these days.

See Storagereview.com

Hitachi has been their favorite for a while now. They are supposed to be fast and quiet. The computer I'm using right now used to have 2 - 120 gig WD drives in it, but now it has 1 - 200 gig Seagate drive. I just got sick of listening to those loud Western Digital drives. The WD drives are still in the case, but they aren't hooked up.

I used to buy a lot of WD because you could usually get a good deal on them. I would buy another one only if it was free and it had a rebate large enough to pay for the segate that would replace it.

Generally seagate is the more exspensive out of the 3 by about 10-20 bucks for equivalent sized hard drive. But they are a great deal quieter then the other choices. WD/Maxtor both equally good if you dont care about sound.
