Poll: Was UN Squaron/Area 88 the best airplane shooter game?

Here is a link. This was such an awesome game. Great music, great gameplay. Hard as crap though.

I beat that on Hard for the "extra scenes" at the end. I could only do it with the Greg guy, he repaired ships faster.

Man that was tough on hard. Awesome music, and I loved being the tomcat, TOP GUN BABY!

I used to love that game so much. I always used the A-10, I liked the second stream of fire downwards.
So many quarters spent.

I didn't even know it was an arcade game. I just had it for SNES. Looks much better in the arcade though.

I had it for the SNES too. Man was that hard, I had to grow up a few years before I could beat it without a Game Genie. Great game.

No, I prefer Raiden 2 and Radiant Silvergun over it.

Gradius and Nemesis were pretty good too.

I wonder if the Wii will allow you to download nes/snes versions of these games. If so..... I am all over it

That game was awesome back in the day. I put so many hours into that game. I was able to beat it on hard with each character, the toughest was with the guy that gave you extra weapons because he didnt heal quickly.

The last boss was awesome. I remember saving up all my money just to get the Efreet. I think I had to buy the YS one to defeat the level that had the ceiling mounted boss and you needed upfiring missles.

Oh hell yeah, that would be great to be able to download the SNES version of the game. I don't know, Capcom is on board to do virtual console titles so there is hope that they may put out UN Squadron.

yes, one of the few shooters that I never get tired of playing...the story behind Area 88 isn't too bad either...

i used to hit those trucks time after time to save up for the efreet. i'd only use the crusader and efreet for the whole game.




a game like this in 3D with all the 3D spectral effects would be awesome.

so would a bad dudes/double dragon/river city ransom type game
