Hello All,

Well, I am a bit dismayed at the GeForce III being anounced in Feb (if true). I don't think that the Rampage will ship much sooner (but hope so). My Voodoo III 3000 is getting a bit long in the tooth (well not really but I just want to buy sumtin). I cleaned it up after my mineral oil experiments and low and behold, I can overclock it to 205 MHz... COOL! I use silver thermal grease and a fan.
Anywho, I think that I might get another vid card and I found that the Voodoo 5 5500 is down in price. Thought you might like to know. I am going to keep an eye out for further price drops.

PS. I wonder if we will see any inovation like the Canopus 6 MB Voodoo 1 when 3dFx starts selling the VSA-100s. I would like DDR (most likly NOT gonna happen or can), I would like the core and memory to NOT run asyronsouly (sp heheh), and I would like faster mem parts (IF the second could be achieved), and also faster core parts....

3dfx is only outsourcing board manufacturing.

the card will still be a "3dfx" card, it's just that 3drfx won't be makign the board itself.

Why not get a GeForce2 GTS for $150 (nutrend.com) and wait until next x-mas and get the Rampage or GF3?

That's a great deal on the Voodoo5 5500. If they had priced them that low to begin with, they would have sold a lot more. A lot of people skipped them because they could get a Radeon or GeForce2 at the same price. But for $173, it's actually competitive enough for serious consideration. Heck, I might pick up the PCI version for my 2nd card, because nothing says Glide and UT lovin like 3DFX. :)

I'm going to wait until BUY.COM lowers their price to about $170 and have free shipping, then I'll use my $30 coupon! :D I could deal with a $140 card. ;)

Just how much longer to hold on though? I want a new card, but don't want to break the bank! I've also got to deal with Canadian retail prices being so much higher...
I'd like a Rampage, but if I have to wait beyond winter (mayyyybe spring) I don't think I can hold out. Than again, Rampage will probably cost too much for me. :(
A $140US 5500 sounds right up my alley... getting it to Canada might be a bit harder. :(
