Poll: US Postal Service Speed Question

Say you wanted a letter to arrive a destination as quickly as possible via standard mail. You have the following two options:

Mail it from a city 500 miles from the destination city first thing in the morningn (say 7 am)
Mail it from the destination city of the letter around 4:45 pm in the afternoon (but not same zip code).

Which letter would show up at the destination address quicker?

i think it would be faster in the destination city. less processing to go through.

But IMHO the USPS is slower than dog shit now. I just had a package take 7 days to arrive from my same state!

There are only 3 major cities in MI. How could this take so long?

but i do know that here in NC, all mail, nevermind the destination, has to go to a designated facility ever since some asshole started mailing letters with anthrax in them. to get to a town to my east...the letter has to go west, then back east.

ive never had a problem with priority mail, but i only use first-class or parcel post if i dont care when something arrives, because theres no telling when its going to get somewhere.

and i voted for destination city in the afternoon.

USPS is lightning fast for me. Packages I send/receive usually arrive within two days of when they're mailed out in my experience. That's coming from/going out of state btw. Now UPS on the other hand is a stinking, slow, piece of shit. You couldn't pay me to send a package through that company. They're great for some people, though. *shrugs*
