Im torn between keeping the 700wx or getting the PPC-6700 from Sprint. Both have their pros and cons IMO. I think the biggest con for the 700wx is the 240x240 resolution vs the 320x240 on the 6700. We have Cingular 8125s at work so I am familiar with the phones. I am getting the phones mainly just for email and searching on eBay for business. (garage sales)

Summary IMO:

700wx
Pros:
Keyboard access without sliding it out

Cons:
240x240 Resolution (possible program compatibility issues)
Can not tether out of the box without paying $35 for program
No wifi (might not use it anyway but still...)

6700
Pros:
320x240 resolution
Wifi
Tether out of box with no 3rd party programs

Cons:
Sliding keyboard

Anyway, thoughts?

I have the 8125 for Cingular so I recommend the ppc6700.

Here are a few of the reasons why I decided to go with the 8125:
Windows Mobile has tons more application for it.
I have mine hooked up to a bluetooth gps receiver and iguidance works perfectly.
HTC makes some sweet ppc/phones.
I can use it as a brick if someone decides to attack me. :)

I had the 6700 from Verizon. Had for about 1 year and then took an unfortunate fall and cracked the screen. Now I have the Treo 700w (didn't have a choice here at work). I prefer the 700 for the phone functionality and the 6700 had a better keyboard. The Treo is more classy too. I don't use the wifi on the phone and yes, tethering out of box was nice, but for $30 or whatever you can get PDAnet. If you are spending that much on a phone what is another 30! (or maybe it was 20).

Also, the 6700 uses standard USB to charge meaning it works with a lot of chargers. The treo has the palm tip.

It is $34 now. I it all depends on screen and keyboard preference but I have had a Treo 650 and an 8125 and a 8525 so it really doesnt matter.

Decided to keep the 700wx. Figured the 6700 has been out for a while and a new version will be out soon. Also the ebay value of the 700wx is about $350 and the 6700 is about $225 so I can always sell the 700wx and get the 6700.

Neither,
I've had the 6700 and it's a piece... it's basically pda with a cell phone chip in it. It doesnt look like the folks at microsoft even put a though into how the phone will be used - all the functionality is really backasswards and the user interface is horrible.

Get the treo 700p and you'll be happy - palm actually thought about how the device will be used as both phone and pda.

i used the 8125 for 2 weeks, hated it, so hard to make phone calls using 1 hand, coming from a treo 650 that was a big problem. software was pretty buggy too, pretty sluggish performance overall

got a 680 now, much beter, i use it as a gps too, with tomtom, and have push mail through good. palm is way better for phones than wm5

I have a 6700 and I really like it. Granted, it does have some problems, but they almost all of them can be fixed. One handed dialing can be achieved using Microsoft voice command, more space can be added very cheaply with a 2gb miniSD card, magicbutton fixes the issue with the x not really closing a program, evdo ring through can be done with an easy to install hack, etc. It's also fairly amusing to use skype on the cell phone to make calls without using minutes.

Got to play with the Blackjack at work and will probably get a few. It is a really nice phone for the basics (email, internet). I plan on using some other features and software not available/on the Blackjack, plus it is not available for Sprint yet AFAIK, just Cingular.

I've never had a problem with my 6700.

1. Push green phone button to get phone screen.
2. Dial number on touchscreen with thumb.
3. Push green phone button to dial.

And if the number is in your contacts it's pretty easy too.

1. Push contacts button.
2. Use the little joystick thingy to browse to the contact you want and push it.
