The traction control in my Accord is pretty much useless. The suspension geometry is such that even with the throttle pinned in first gear while making a turn, the inside front tire rarely fully breaks loose (and almost no torque steer!). So when it does kick in, it usually just slows you down and makes no contribution towards safety or steering accuracy.
In the wet or snow, it does not have enough finesse to allow the car to climb hills any better than you could with it off. It doesn't pulse fast enough and the pulses are these big shuddering jams, so on ice, you get wheelspin/dead stop/wheelspin/dead stop a few times a second. Big help.
I'm too lazy to turn it off every time I get in the car for normal driving, but I always turn it off when I want to move quickly or, ironically, whenever traction is impaired because of conditions.
