Got a deal for 2001 Mercedes Benz E320.
Price is $27000 and only 22000 mileage. The car is in great shape because I know the lady that drove the car.

What do you guys think??

Should I go for it or no?

Well, that is definitely an excellent price, especially considering the low mileage. If you like the car and it is mechanically sound, go for it.

Mercedes.. fun to drive :) Just take good care of it!

I'd go for it in a minute. I've sold some of my best friend's our family's old cars before and when the cars had problems, we didn't have some fight or falling out. They realized every car has a problem SOMETIME, and they got it fixed. Just be mature about it and everyone will be happy :)

that's the main reason i won't buy cars from friends, and i had many opportunities to do so.

Normally I'd agree to some extent, but I think this case is a little different:
1) The car is a Mercedes which is only about two-three years old.
2) It has only 22K miles so it's been lightly driven, and she has supposedly taken good care of it.
3) It probably has some factory warranty left on it (not sure on that though).
4) Even if something does go wrong, I checked out Edmund's really quickly and $27K is at LEAST $8K less than the going price for this car in my area.

An $8K discount is pretty tough to pass up, especially if NormanTheCow was already looking for a car in this price range.

Damn, you get some great suggestions on this forum.

Who better to buy a used car from than a friend? If you know this friend, you KNOW how it's been treated. Buying a one owner car is good, knowing the owner is even better. I don't know a damn thing about that particular car, but it's priced right and you know its history. Two checks in the plus column.

thx for the great responses esp. the link to edmunds.com.

I guess so far the poll is even and I am leaning towards buying it because I know the lady well(family friend).

I will do a bit more of research myself and see if its worth it :)

Thanks!
