I'll try to make this brief.
I'm thinking of making a game, which would be written in ASP with a database backend. This game would be something like what www.2am.com does. Basically you login and get a certain number of turns a day. If anyone has ever played some of these games (build your empire, or attack, or allie with others, etc.) that is what it is.
My question is, would anyone here actually play this? I have a lot of experience playing games, not so much designing but to be honest I'm not in this for any money, just something to do and I know that I have the skills to handle the technical side - and I believe also the play side as well. With your turns you buy tanks, air craft, spies, declare war and stuff like that.
This may sound boring, but from my experience these games are not (I used to play one on the old bulletin boards on my 286 with a modem!). The benefit to this is that obviously it is free, but more importantly given that it is text based somebody could play it at work, or during lunch hour if they cared. Its just kind of something to take a few minutes out of each day and watch out your empire builds.
All I need is some honest opinions of how many people are interested in this sort of thing, because other than the coding practice it is not worth my time if nobody would ever play it except me hehe I know it isn't as fun as Counter Strike but it isn't intended to compete with that either!
