Lets face it! Apple is the Industry innovator when it comes to design, but it does look like a table lamp!

I thought the new iMac looks like a chinese cooking WOK turned upside down with a goose neck sticking out of it. (g)

If you paste a mirror onto the back of the LCD screen your wife/girlfriend can use it to put on her makeup. Then put a string of small Christmas lights around it and she has a pretty toy to use when putting on her makeup. :D

It certainly looks better than the old iMac, I'll give it that. No more fruity colors or frog-shaped candy-canes. At least they're improving. I can see a lot of home users and schools buying this. Unfortunately, I just don't see myself buying it. Call me elitist or something but I just don't like the idea of having a cramped little R2-like dome as my computer. I don't stare at my desktop anyway, I stare at my beautiful 18.1" LCD and the contents inside it, so why would I care?

I think the design is good. However, I would never purchase an iMAC. I don't like all the integration. I like to be able to easily upgrade and tinker with my systems. Of course the DIY market is not where the iMAC is intended to be sold to. Oh well.

I think it looks great. Forget about what it is... It is not a computer, not a lamp, not even a practical appliance. It is just what it is.... Then what do yo think?

However, I voted for 'alien from....' because I still have 'computer' in my mind when I voted.

Hehe, I just checked out the Apple.com site (no man, I swear, I don't go there regularly!). Saw the "new, redesigned" iMac. Cried and laughed for a little bit

That's bigotry.
It's too bad that people have to hate something. It seems that with the decline of rasicm, we can't (officially) hate people of colour anymore, so now we take sides with different corporations, that's still allowed. It's one and the same thing to me.

(not that I give a fsck about apple.corp or microsoft.corp, or any.corp ... it's just the hatred that I disagree with)
You listening Nvidia fanboys and AMD/Intel zealots .. you're all bigots .. digital age bigots. Rednecks of the internet.

Just noticed ....
Also, you can buy something from ColorCases.com if you want to get really creative

Buying things that are colorful doesn't constitute creativity.

I don't agree with the notion that apples are for creative types. Like I said, buying something of a funky color doesn't make you a creative being. What you do with that tool might however. I'm not too crazy about the new I-macs but I respect it nonetheless. They managed to fit a lot of good technology in there, I'm impressed. I know a lot of people that would be happy (and rightfully so) to own one of those. I'm not about to make fun of them either, just because I use a PC that "I built myself".
High horses and bigotry are lame.

So if I think one company produces higher quality products than another I'm a racist? Do you even know what you are talking about? That's what a business is there for. For you to like them better than other businesses. That is how most companies make their money. It's also funny how you call everyone bigots then proceed to use the word redneck. Think before you speak.

You completely missed my point.

and besides;

red-neck

Used as a disparaging term for a member of the white rural laboring class, especially in the southern United States.
A white person regarded as having a provincial, conservative, often bigoted attitude.

There is nothing wrong with liking one product over another. I have seen many, many posts on these forums that bash macs and mac users and it is hatred. Hatred is what I stand against, not competition. I'm making a comment on the human pysche here. We have to hate something right?! pfffffft

smp, there is no need for flattery. I must admit, I've never been called a 'racists' for calling a shiny electronic gizmo garbage. I guess your nutty opinion can attributed to misdirected western liberalism.

Anyway, here I go. It looks like an overpriced flashy plastic paperweight. There..:D

This wasn't targetted at everyone that ever said a bad word about macs. The whole side taking thing, like sports teams, cars (ford vs chevy vs ricer) etc. etc.
Why does it have to come down to sides?.?

I'm afraid that my point is lost here.
I didn't intend to start flames, but I guess I was a little harsh, I still don't take back my remarks.

aka.

bigot

smp,

LOL... Yeah, so what if I dislike Apple? I made fun of Cyrix when their CPUs sucked ass, I made fun of the square-shaped Mac mouse, and I made a lot of fun of the stupid cacheless Celery. Yeah, so?

I don't like Ford because according to consumer reports they break often, and I don't like the layout on the Sony keyboard.

Do you like and love everything?

I would never buy a ford either, you don't see me starting a thread about it.

Let me see . . . the iMac looks like krap.

Apple does not innovate they copy-ate. Like those all in one computers were being manufatured and sold in the 80s. They even included a printer in some of them. I remember they were called word processor computers.

Only the ignorant bought them. Only the ignorant would buy a new iMac toy.

Maybe toys-R-Us will sell them as children's toys? ;)

Well guess what, I saw several "Is the new Ford Explorer good?" sorts of threads, especially on consumer-reports forums. Don't forget that I'm not bashing the iMac in the post itself - that simply serves as a poll and a starting point to the Anti-Macism message outburst :)

I'm just messing' with ya, dude!
